FD ratio change...
how involved is changing the final drive ratio of an MPI?
how many hours would you expect?

Its engine out.
The top half of the engine is metric bolts and the bottom half is imperial.
14 - 16 hours is a good a estimate. If you need help with it or get stuck at any point you can pm me and i'll help best i can.
Are you doing it by yourself? Also what Fd are you going for?

not doing it myself, was trying to estimate the cost. thinking of going to a 3.1. do you know anyone who would be willing and able to do the work (i'm in nyc)

Est cost would be GBP 3-500 for new box with shorter diff then same again to fit.

No he meant 300 to 500 pounds for a complete gearbox (rebuilt) with the specified diff ratio. That's in the UK, of course....
