Awesome car! I just got me a right hand side driver in DC. I love this car! Baby's got new shoes now too.. just got my Falken's yesterday for her - much happier on the road now :0) Does your's have that weird hydrolastic suspension (the swooshing noise is freakin' A funny to hear - sounds like a pool sloshing around in the front of the car), lol. Congrats on the purchase!

The car needs some work. I would like to just get a new shell or a really decent used one.

Now you've made me want to go out and get a classic to go with my 06! (My wife'll hate the idea, I can already tell! )

Great pick-up!

What are the regulations/requirements for shipping a classic mini to the U.S. I've heard there are certain restrictions in getting the car through customs. Anybody know anything about this?

Must be 25 years old to waive DOT NHTSA regs. Plenty of them around already here for sale (some may even be newer than 25 years )

The key regulation

Here's the key form

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...hs799short.pdf

and as you can see, the first exclusion is the key for our purposed cuz spending the $$ to actually try to comply with US regs would be cost prohibitive.

Technically customs isn't "the problem", altho that inspection is where they will verify the build date based on the VIN. I've heard of cars sitting longer for an agriculture inspector than the customs check
