I just picked up my 00' last friday and everything seems to be in good order. The only thing that I found disturbing is that whenever i engaged out of 1st or reverse from stop, I hear a knocking sound from the engine compartment and it sounded like the motor is loose or rocking against the firewall.

Has anyone ran into this similar situation? Perhaps i should change the engine mounts? Thanks guys as I am still learning things about this classic.

 

i opend up the hood this morning and check to see if the motor is loose....but it seems rock solid so not sure what could be causing the knocking noise when i am engaging from a stop on 1st and reverse...

 

does a 1999-2000 have an upper stabilizer?

From reading some of the description of these stabilizers, it appears that the clunking sound is quite common on these later model minis(mine is 2000 1.3L fuel injection sport package).

There seems to be quite a variety of stabilizers. I will need to do a little more research to local what would be fix my current problem. THanks.
