Ok after reading that I still have an issue with the VIN. Basically it's saying that I have a 1098cc Mini Special if I'm reading it right. Now here is the wrench in the system ....The tag on the car has MKII now that means it's from 1967-69.

Here are the pic's of the tags inside the engine bay:

Looks like a MK3 to me

from an earlier post

MK1 = round grill, round tail lites, sliding windows/outside hinges
MK2 = angled grill, squared tail lites, sliding win' outside hinge
MK3 = roll up windows and hidden hinges
question 1 - what year marked the changes?
question 2 - what changed for MK4?
question 3 - was MK4 the last?

my 79 is MK3 so ur 77 would b 2 given you have roll up windows.

{but don't be confused: my 79 MK3 has been modified with a MK1 grill and tailites}

Take a look at your upper subframe mounts. If it is one single LARGE bolt on each side (and internal door hinges) you have a MkIV or later. Three small on each side MKIII or earlier. (with internal hinges = MKIII, external MKII or MKI)

Your original VIN plate would've been riveted, not screwed in. See your other thread for the VIN id.

Ok that menas that I have a MKIV because there are two huge bolts on each side and I have hidden hinges. I'm not sure what says it's a 77 but it's somewhere in there.

two bolts each side means a mkI or mkII... one large bolt each side are mkIII or later...
