How often do you drive your classic Mini?

I love driving both my Minis. But I've starting to crave driving my classic more and more. When it's 90+ degrees, I'll take my new MINI with A/C.

So, my question is, how often do you drive your classic Mini? Anyone use theirs as a daily driver? If so, what do you love about driving your classic everyday and what do you hate?

Mine is registered and insured as an antique - save a bunch of bucks that way. To qualify for the special rates the rules are - not a daily driver, occasional use to test, go to a show etc...and w/in 250 miles of home.

A friend got caught using his 'antique' as his daily driver and the state hit him for back fees....not good. (police noticed it parked at work every day... I have been eye-balled pretty good with the antique plates, esp sisnce VA requires two plates EXCEPT for antiques. I carry that section of the State code in the car after being pulled over for no front plate....)

Mine gets out every weekend wx permitting but it is just for fun and shows - then right back into the garage after a wash and rub down. Maybe 100 to 200 miles a week.

I think I'm up to a level of reliability where OC could be my daily driver but since it is RHD and I need to use a swipe card to get into the garage at work, I'd need to tape the card to my 9 iron to reach across so I put the miles on the S

I used to drive mine to work once a week and on Sundays, plus any club runs and/or shows.

I drive mine daily, work & back, it attracts lots attention sitting in front of my shop, I enjoy meeting people and I DO in the Mini, I used to drive an XKE Jaguar daily also and it was not as approachable as the Mini, this is a much friendlier car, people make U-turns to come back and talk to me or take pictures, I have A/C so that helps here in the deep south, we have been getting severe storms rolling through and I get in my Astro van when the water gets too deep, plus I have a leak around the sunroof that I can't find the source, Manuel

When I had mine, drives were based on weather forcast. If the high temp forcast was between 60 degrees and 85 dergees and no rain, The Mini was the ride for the day. As I live in New Mexico, the Mini was driven a lot!

In this case is a car really necessary to get all that attention?

I drive mine everyday. Luckily I live near the beach, which makes the drive along the coast even more enjoyable!

Tonight we go pick up my wife's new MCSa, which will be her daily driver.

Of our local classic Mini owners, I know of only one who uses his as a daily driver. The others I know now also now have MINIs which get more consistent use on our crazy, congested highways. Not that the Minis aren't capable, but the safety equipment (and AC:smile, definitely tips the scale.

I drive my Mini 4-5 days a week and usually drive it 50 plus miles one way to Sarasota Florida most every weekend. I can't imagine being without such a fun little attention getter.

Thanks for the kind word I didn't know that she was a pinup.

A little while ago our MINI (Smileee) was in the dealers for some minor work.

Here is a picture of Towne's loaner MINI with Edna.

Cheers,
Jack
