Picking up a Mini

I'll be purchasing this rust free 1968 Mini Cooper S replica for $16.5k tomorrow. Any thoughts on price and parts used for the build?

picked up where?

is this in the US already?

If you like it ... why ask us? Not meant in an ugly way ..... when I got my 79 I was HAPPY and then someone told me they thought I got a bad deal .....

Who's opinion matters?

it looks nice ... enjoy it . . .

one comment tho ... rust free? Not gonna happen! No visible ugly rust I'll believe .... from the buyer of a 'rust free' '79

Unless this shell and all the parts was dipped in the last 6 months and repainted I'd say there is a 98% chance there is rust in the common places.

So you may want to consider what I did in the first 5 years of ownership ....

take welding class and maybe buy your own MIG set

take body repair and auto painting classes (I found evening adult education that provided access to a paint booth)

subscribe to MINIWORLD

I assume you already have the HAYNES or better ..... and a decent set of tools

get familiar with EASTWOOD!

Looks like a nice car!

Rust free sometimes just means "no charge"

Fair enough on all accounts. Yes, it's in the US. This guy has been garaged in dry NorCal and never seen rain since its restoration. The only slight tinge of surface rust is at the seam by the rear bumper. I'll be sure to have much better photos of it when I pick it up tomorrow. And to answer your questions, I already have a Lincoln MIG and a few Haynes manuals coming in. Bodywork has never been my specialty, but may as well start now with these famed rust buckets.
