looking for anyone who knows where i can find a CHEAP project car. engine is not needed, but would be nice. anyone with ideas, suggestions, or knowledge of where i should look, or where i could find one. some rust/body damage ok. hoping to make one sweet little ralley car
i am located in oregon.

UPDATE: i realize there are several posts on here about where to find older mini's, but i am looking for something with little, if any, modifications. this car will be getting a VW TDi engine, all new interior, and extensive body and frame work, so i don't want to buy somehting that someone else has put a lot of money into. looking for an actual project car.

Well, if you want a real project Mini there is one in N. Tucson, AZ. Let me know if you're interested in driving that far for one.

thatgirl,
Aloha and welcome to NAM.
Several ideas for you. One is to check Ebay.com for any bargains-some do exist but make sure the price is low enough.
Next is to check in your local area- maybe drop in to SCCA events where people might know about minis, or check restoration garages-call around- some specialize in european rebuilds.

Next is to contact those sites listed in this classic mini forum and ask them about project minis and where to find them. Maybe they can help point you in the right direction or maybe get you a project mini if they get one in minus the engine.

Good luck and don't forget to check the newspapers, especially in big cities.

Hi, thatgirl ... there is the Oregon Mini Society with members having several project cars to choose from ... you can get in touch with them here : http://www.oregonminisociety.com/

... and many more (like me!) that have garages full of Classic parts, too ...

Good luck with the search and keep us posted about what you find and how the project progresses ...

check out the cars for sale listed at craigsauto.com....its the Mini club in Vancouver, BC. Also, look on Minimania, com message threads & search for a poster named racerkoi who imports minis into Oregon area.

I can't seem to locate the owner's phone number. But I did see it with three other Mini owners so I will contact them and get the number. He was asking 1400.
