isnt there a mod you can do to put a larger output alternator in a mini?

very easy to do but you might need a slightly longer belt as the pulley might be slightly larger in diameter

just take your belt to an auto parts store and they can match it up with one thats a tad longer

Yes, we just had a long discussion about this not long ago.

the easist way to go - but not the least expensive - is to simply buy the alternator from a much later Mini which has higher output and is a direct bolt in replacement.

BUT - higher output does not mean you'll have juice at low RPM referring to the original issue. There you need an alt' made to produce full output at low RPM .... a special animal. It does mean you can power more goodies like 18 driving lites tho

{at low RPM you may see an AMP gauge bouncing .... that's cuz the alternator is just barely making juice....and will actually clip in and out as it's minimum is touched; or so I've been told by my resident mechanic advisor}
