Thanks for noticing! It does look pretty good, doesn't it?
Your profile says you're in Massachusetts. What were you doing in Charleston?
Happened to be there for a 4 day getaway with my wife and another couple. Were staying in the Governor Inn on Broad just a couple of buildings down and opposite the Catholic Church where the parade ended. We went outside when we heard the parade going by and there was the Riley along with the other Brit cars. Snapped the pic from the porch and "educated" my wife and friends about the Riley. I didn't see if or where you pulled in, otherwise I would have come over to look closer at the Riley.
We were originally supposed to go on to Savannah for the rest of the week but I got called back on business unfortunately. I hear they really know how to do St. Paddies day there. Really sorry we missed that.
Haven't got any pictures yet, aside from what was on the Craigs listing. But here's the shopping list of what the car needs (at first glance anyway).
All it needs is:
Elf specific bits, (unobtainable or nearly so):
correct front panel
front slam panel
offside rear quarter
both wings
rear valance
rear slam panel
front and rear bumpers
dash
seats
It's been a while since I looked, but I think one of the Brit suppliers still showed Elf panels in the catalog, try M-Machine or Somerford.
It's been so long since I posted here that I couldn't find my login and since I don't even have the same email address anymore the forgot password thingy didn't work. Trying to contact the admin got me nowhere so I had to make a new account. Does anyone even still use this forum?
Anyway the story of the $600 pig farm Riley Elf rescue didn't end with dragging it home and cutting it up. It took a while, but it eventually donated enough parts to provide the base for 'Alf, the half-Elf cargo trailer.
I've got a complete build diary posted on http://restorationmini.com/ if anyone's interested in seeing what it took to put scraps together into a new creation. Kreacher and 'Alf

eBay says Morris
Engine & radiator badge say Wolseley
Is the engine a real 'S'?
Pity about the poor videos
Nicely done. 20k? Maybe.
There was a Riley van at a show in Kent many moons ago

I think this is a one of one custom creation
nice but NOT authentic
and very $$
Easy enough to fit an Elf/Hornet front panel and bonnet to a van or estate. But they were never offered that way from the factory.
I have done a few upgrades to my Elf since I've had it. The trailer project was just the icing on the cake.
Kreacher has a D16Z6 VTEC engine on a Minitec frame, front coilovers, rear coils, 9.5 inch discs up front, Minifins on the rear. 13 inch Performance Superlite wheels, currently on Nankang AS-1 tires. Full custom fuel system with a 15 gal tank. relocated Braille battery. Autometer electronic gauges in a hand built dash. Miata seats. Not quite how it came from the factory, but it works for me.
