Engine stabilizers and steadies

All-

Any advice on engine stabilizers for a 1275? I see a lot of products offered by different vendors but not clear what the best solution is. ie which product or combination of products ( upper and lower) is optimal for street use but not overkill. Dogbone vs others. That sort of thing.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

well is your engine modded or just standard then you should have top engine to baulk head and you may have a bottom g/box to front of subframe by oil drain plug as for the rad therom stat side there are many to choose from but you will not need this item unless your engine is modded just use poly bushes in others..............

As your Mini is listed as a 1968, your transmission should have the 'remote' style gearshift. This was stock on that year. At the rear of the remote housing should be a small rubber mount 21A956. This stock mount along with the original stop stabilizer arm that extends from the top side of the block back to the bulkhead is all that should be needed unless you plan on Auto-crossing. The 'after-market' lower stabilizer options MSSK and MSSK1 are actually copies of what was stock on many later model Minis that had seen the use of the 'Rod Change' gearshift. These shifters are smooth and easy to sue but lack the housing that allows for the original rear mount- thus on a Mini with "rod change' shifter it is almost mandatory to have at least one of the 'extra' lower brackets. The aux upper stabilizer kits MSSK1300 are really only need for seriously used Minis.

I would do:
Top(thermostat housing to firewall)
Bottom rear(one auxiliary L or R)
Bottom front(one tranmission side)

You'll get a sllightly more vibration inside at idle but it's a lot bettern than having to change motor mounts.....you can imagine how fun those are!!!!!
