Anyone in the Springs

I just moved my family and my Mini to the Springs and I am looking for some Mini folks out here. I know of plenty in Denver, but if there is anyone in Springs chime on in!!! BTW - here is a pic of my MINI frozen to my trailer after driving through a snow storm enroute to CO.

What are "The Springs"? All I can tell from your photos is that they're not in Southern CA or Florida.

PS - I may be heading out to Colorado in July for a big Toyota FJ offroad event... If not this year, maybe next. If I go, I'm thinking of trailering the Mini along, just for giggles. If I do, can I look you up and we can go cruising around?

PS - how dark did you tint your windows? I like the look.

what size and brand is that trailer?
Mini Meet East Meets West in MN is coming up next year and I'm going to need to trailer Lucy up there.

That is my friend is documented “Mini-abuse”. Tarps or car covers are good. You cannot treat your Mini like that without serious repercussions from our nemesis … rust.

Great pix though! Yeah, and like Gskapunk said above, "What size and brand is that trailer?"

Minimaniac74,

Looks like you had to move during that nasty storm that shut down schools in Kansas City a couple days ago. I thought of you today as I drove highway 5 into Lansing. Lived in this area since '83 and didn't discover the hills and curves on #5 until today. I'll never take KS 7 again .

Thaw that rascal out and get the grime washed down, quick! Man, MITM is now in your backyard. Nice.

Tarps would do more damage than good. That's why you don't see anyone transporting a car with a tarp on it. Wind would whip the tarp and beat your paint....

The Spring is Colorado Springs - sorry for the confusion.

A tarp or car cover would have made the situation worse. I have an outdoor car cover made just for the classic. Ice could have gotten under the cover and scratched up the paint. It was literally frozen to the trailer. I had to wait two days in order to get it off.

The storm I hit was last Friday in Colorado. We delayed a day leaving KS because of the potential storm that was going to shut down I70. Of course, that storm never amounted to anything.

The trailer is a simple 6X10 tilt bed trailer. The axle is a bit far forward past the center of gravity. To keep the trailer from drifting, I added two 20lbs sand bags to front just to get enough weight up front. I think I paid about $600 for it and it has been worth every penny.

Welcome to the Springs! I hope to see you and that Mini around. Can't tell from your pics but what area are you located?

I live on the North East side in Clarmount Ranch. I am hoping there is someone on the board who drives a classic Mini or other British car who can help me with my carb adjustments for this high altitude.

you should come to the MOTR (minis of the rockies) club meetings www.minisrock.com mainly a Classic club but we have new mini owners as well. First Tuesday of the month is when we have our meetings, next one is March 4th.

Thanks. I have my classic all tuned and running great at this high altitude. My new MINI should be here soon (keep your fingers crossed). I can't make the March meeting, perhaps I will be able to make it in April

Is that Hwy 24 and Constitution? I'm more North and East in Falcon. I see you were able to get your carbs to breath up here. Keep my eyes open for you zipping around!

Cool, my '03 is in for an exhaust system so if someone in a maroon Dodge Dakota honks and waves, that be me.

Do you have any local shops you recommend for new MINI maintenance? My 08 should be here soon and I plan on dropping it with some H&R springs. I just need a local place that isn't too much $$$. Here is a pic of my new ride which is still in Germany.

It thawed. I waited two days for the temp to get above freezing and then I took it to a 'do-it-yourself' car wash. I had to spray underneath to thaw it out. After that, I was able to get it off of the trailer.

I had it out today and the only thing I need to do is advance the timing a little bit. The atmosphere and lower octane gas is messing up the timing a bit.
