Classic is back from paint

Well, my Mini has been de-rusted and is back from being painted.
I went with the current Mustang orange (Grabber Orange aka Valencia Orange) which is a fairly yellow, very bright, non-metallic orange. Left the roof black. Next step is to re-assemble the car with new gaskets and seals and a few other new parts.

Oooohhh... shiny. How much did the bodywork and re-spray set you back? Very unique!

What's with the back seat area, though?

Through a friend of a friend, I got all the body work done (including cutting out and repairing a fairly significant amount of rust) for $550.
The paint was made cheaper because I stripped all the parts off myself, and I didn't get the roof repainted. There was nothing wrong with the paint, and there was no rust, not even on the gutters, so it was a simple 1 color and topcoat job. They painted the inside of the doors and boot, and the door jambs, all for $1095. So I got out for $1645 which I'm very happy with.
Of course, I've also ordered $800 of replacement and new parts to go on the car while it's stripped, but that's neither here nor there.

The back seat area is what it looks like when you remove all the removable bits so they don't get paint on them. The old seats are going back in, though I am contemplating having the re-upholstered. Don't tell my wife. They don't really need recovering, but the grey doesn't go as well with the exterior as something alse might.

Rubbermaid containers are handy, cheap and stackable. I think we have 30+ of them around the house.

That's pretty close to the new MINI yellow - Mellow Yellow. But it looks better on your Classic than it does on a new MINI.

In person, and in the sun, it's pretty definately orange, not yellow. Once I get it all back together, I'll take a couple of pics of it next to my Liquid Yellow MCS for contrast.

Yes, I am considering a boxing kangaroo roof graphic. There are a set of factory bonnet stripes on their way from England but I'm trying to decide on the roof graphic. IMO, it looks pretty dam good with the black roof, but the Aussie sporting logo on the roof would certainly add to the uniqueness.

Ah, but check out the NEW MINI yellow - Mellow Yellow - at MINIUSA.COM. It's definitely not Liquid Yellow. I have a LY too. Mellow Yellow reminds me of schoolbus yellow. Still, it looks awfully good on a Classic. Good choice!

The Mustang orange looks more like a cantaloupe color (a bit deeper than cantaloupe) where the Mellow Yellow is definitely still in the yellow family.

I'm really liking your combination! Looks fantastic! While the roof graphic definitely would set it apart, my thought is that it might be too much. Maybe you could have a magnet made and you could put it on and off as you see fit?

Oh yes, it'll be at AMVIV again. It was the red & black classic parked real close to the elevators this year. All assembled and looking sharp. Here is a pic taken by WickedGolf, mine is the red one in this pic.

The front and rear glass stayed in for paint, but the seals were cut down so that the paint edge will be covered by the new seals that are going in.
