Chicago Parking Woes
I once lived in an apartment complex on a busy street next to a university. Came out to find someone had parked their car blocking half the driveway making it impossible to exit the parking lot. Luckily the car was a sub-compact and did not weigh much. Thanks to some nice citizens who were nearby when the owner came back to get into their car they found the previously parallel parked car diagonally pointing out half way into the traveling lane. My only regret is not calling the police after the car was manually moved in order to have them get a ticket or towed.
My mother once told a story from back in her school days. She worked with the football team as a sideline person. One time, for some reason, the football team moved her Pinto between two buildings so there was inches on either end. They then hid in the bushes, I assume, and watched her reaction, which was distraught. She had to find the coach to get them to carry it out.
Got a good size dent in my hood after parking at IKEA for holiday shopping. Looked like someone dropped a package on my car or something while trying to load something in (or out?). Makes no sense as IKEA has a dedicated loading bay for heavy stuff.
Well, I've learned my lesson ... Always try and park as far away as humanly possible from people.
Or walk ... Or better yet, take your better half's car when going to places where parking is tight.

you're boned on this ticket but I think in the future you'll be off the hook for future tickets because they're changing the IL plate requirements on future registrations in order to save cash.

Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, beginning with the next registration year after the effective date of this amendatory Act in which the Secretary of State distributes newly designed standard registration plates for motor vehicles, the Secretary of State shall issue one registration plate (instead of 2) for newly registered motor vehicles and the registration plate shall be attached to the rear (instead of front and rear) of the motor vehicle.
Fiscal Note (Office of the Secretary of State)
HB 4888 will save the Office of the Secretary of State approximately $800,000 a year in plate production costs. HB 4888 will have a minimal savings on the Office's mailing costs, as the Office is billed at the same rate for packages weighing up to 10 pounds.
