Good window tinter?

Does anyone have a window tinter they would recommend? In the city if possible. If not I get to drive there.

Also what did you guys pay?

Cheers!

Window Tints

Check out GZ sign design. In roselle, IL. Anyone that's seen my bright yellow truck knows how well my windows are done. I had the MINI's done, but unless you'd like to drive to Little Rock, AR... It might be hard to see!!

It's on the pricier side of window tinting, but VERY well done. If you'd like to see the truck, let me know.

nino from UMBRA in schaumburg. It's laser cut tint, life time warranty on fading, bubbles, etc.

im not sure if I can post link but here it is. The price is a little on the higher side but it's worth it.

I'll have to check out that place when my car comes in. I've seen the place recommended a bunch of times online now.

Umbra FTW...I've had my M3 done there with the ceramic tints. And now I'm gonna get the Mini done there too.

Nino is good!

It might be a bit far from you, but I used Shaded Days in Lake Bluff (about 4 miles west of Knauz Mini). I had my windows done way back in 08'. I had the rear and sides done for about $278 back then. I was pretty happy with the work, seems to have held up so far. I think I was even able to get a rental car from Knauz, through Shaded Days (I believe they work together on occasion). The number I have for Shaded Days is: 847-816-8468 -hopefully they are still in business.

I live in So Cal, so the referral is a moot point, but as a reference, I paid $285. I got front windows in light, rears in medium, rear doors (Clubman) in medium and both sun/moon roofs in a clear (heat and UV protection) for that price. Computer cut. They punch in the car and boom. Beats some dude using a razor blade.

Happy with it all.

i got my tints done at UMBRA. Nino and his worker are really nice guys and very friendly. I love my tints. The only thing i'd recommend is telling him to be careful with the heat gun. He burned my chrome a little bit under my window. Only noticeable when you come up close, but still noticeable enough if you love your car like i do. Based solely on my tints, I couldnt ask for anything better that are legal in Illinois. These are 35% all around.

Have you had a problem with getting stopped by law enforcement? Where did you have it done? What does the percentage designation refer to? Like 5% front and 35% rear.

percentages are usually %VLT (visible light transmitted) which is the guideline Illinois uses when they say you can have x% tint. This is the most common with film manufacturers I believe. I have seen VLB or visible light blocked percentages though.

does anyone have any experience with Dave's Glass Tinting out of Palatine?
A co-worker recommended him after he did his IS300.

Just wondering if he's done any Minis?

I went with Umbra on my 2011 about a month ago. Nino is a cool guy and did the job himself. Tints look great so far. Paid $200.

My chrome is fine. I watched him do the tint so I see how it could happen but it didn't in my case. Did you talk to him after you noticed it? Maybe he can make it right with a nice black it out with vinyl.

i had got my tints done in march and i a friend of mine noticed it a couple weeks back. I was hesitant to bring it up because i do agree, Nino and his worker are great guys. But I might give that idea of the vinyl a try if he can't repair the chrome.
