Patrick Mini
Service options
Being around Chicago I have a choice of several large Mini dealers to go to for service. I purchased the car from Patrick Mini in Schaumburg. I would like to stay with them hoping to get better service there because I bought it there. That proably went out the window years ago. Anyway has anybody got any stories, good or bad about Patrick Mini. 2009 JWC.
Thanks

hey Jerry.. have you checked out the threads in the Chicago MINI forum? there's a few there with opinions.. good and not so good.
Are you still under warranty? looking for a local independent shop for MINI work? maybe we'll see you at the next club outing

Last time I visited Patrick service their solution to fix the MINI was to try to sell one off of their lot. The service department managers words where "Great day to buy a new car" Sort of summed up the caliber of their service and knowledge that day. If it's regular maintenance you'll probably be ok though.
There are some good independent shop options in the Chicago area (I know there's one or two in lake county and one in Winnetka, and there's supposed to be a good BMW shop on the north side as well) with all the MINIs around the city. I was once on a first name basis with the Knauz service department, but I noticed that the # of things broken on the car substantially decreased when I was doing the work myself, and the problems were accurately diagnosed much sooner. I've heard horror stories out of Bill Jacobs and International, but there's supposed to be a new dealer opening in Madison this Spring/Summer.
BTW moving this to the Chicago section.

I take back my recommendation for Knauz, I will never set foot in their dealership again!

Haha, awesome signature pic!
when i graduated college we had a huge party in my parent's back yard, which butts up to a back-road that all the farmers use. One of those machines was going by all afternoon and we all ran to the end of the road with beers and tried to get him to stop, which he did, but wouldn't come to the party.
But for Patrick related stories, I never used them for service but when I was thinking of trading my car in, they appraised it at like 7k. My car is pretty mint...
But I did use Knauz for service a few times and had AWFUL experiences. I much prefer independent shops where you can get to know people and build a relationship...
