Count me in for a meet, or drive during the driving season 2008.
Vous pouvez compter sur moi pour participe durant la saison de 2008.
(excusez mon francais - je peut seulement essayer)

A day at the track sounds like great fun - but no racing please!
I'm in for sure.
But we would need to be quite a few people to even think about it. Or we could join in with another group who is renting the track for the day (or weekend).

Racing might be out. But doesn't BMW do a driving school every so often.
Would something like that with MINIS be possible? Could it be done for a reasonable cost??

The BMW Car Club of Quebec has several driving schools throughout the summer at various tracks, either alone or with other driving schools. Any type of car is welcome provided that it is in good mechanical condition. I used to take my BMW but since I've tried the Mini, there is no contest. The Mini is now my official track car, it's such fun & handles like a charm!
So you get to drive on the track & have the added benefit of in-car instruction.
I can't wait until spring!

What was the cost? I seem to recall it was quite expensive.

You get what you pay for. . .
I believe that the price of each school (track day) depends on the cost to rent a specific track for the day or weekend. I don't remember pricing, but the smaller tracks are usually less expensive. Once next season's schedule is available, I can let you know via p.m.
One thing is for sure, I'd rather get my ******* on the track, & spend the $$ there rather than paying for speeding tickets along the way! There are rules & I've always felt very safe while on track.

Just signed up for a track day in 2008 . .

actually Saturday & Sunday, July 12 & 13 at Tremblant.
There'll be other days before, probably starting in May, at Sanair. Other tracks as well, different clubs, dates, but the same idea. . have fun, stay safe. As new dates pop up locally I can let anyone interested know & maybe we can just tag on to someone elses event. It would be really cool to have a larger Mini presence at these gatherings.
Stay safe,
Ed

Montreal MCS '02 Owner ... Enjoy knowing I'm not alone... Just an FYI ... anyone deal with Laval Mini ... Their mechanics don't seem to look further then their nose for problems ... I have a problem with the foot vent and they informed me that it may be the flap that is broken ... it's 100$ for the flap and 9 hours of work ... a nice total of 1000$ + tax ... it's now been two weeks and I don't know why my foot heater works fine ... they would of fixed it, charged me and that wouldn't of been the issue ... be careful when you bring your car in ... if you have your own ODBII check the codes yourself.
