Hi,
I think I have talked to you before. I live in Edmonton and have a DS/W Cooper S. It is possible your car is in Calgary with mine right now. Sounds like same problem.
Send me a email if you want:

Best Regards,
Steve

Hey there Bill.........get your MCS back yet? Hope those little nasties get all worked out soon, so you can get some summertime motoring in soon.
BTW, I'm in the planning stages for a possible trip from Kelowna, BC to Canmore, Calgary, Edmonton(?) and possibly Fort Mac. Quite the trip. Have a bunch of people I need to see. It'll be around the Canada Day week, starting the weekend before if it happens at all. Be cool to hook up with some other Canadian MINI owners. Anyone have plans around that time?
Cheers,

Main thing that's holding these road trip plans back is having everyone not being so busy at the same time. I'm wanting to see everyone all in one trip within a week. But it's posing a problem. They're all busy at different times. We'll see how it all works out, and then I'll give you a shout from there.
Cheers,

Edmonton

This is an old thread but since we now have a MINI dealer in Edmonton and I see lots of MINIs around Riverbend, I am curious to see if there is any Edmontonians on this Forum?

New Mini to Edmonton

Hello!

I am a new Mini Cooper owner living in downtown Edmonton - just waiting for the dealership to apply the racing bonnet and boot stripes and she'll be mine in the next week or two! I've had a small infatuation with Mini's since I first saw one in 2002 but didn't think it was a practical enough vehicle. It just took one trip to the dealership and a test drive to convince me that it is everything practical and perfect for me.

p.s. anyone need a reliable sexy black '96 VW Jetta - I need to sell ASAP.

Jen

Hi Jen, these cars are a lot of fun, I raced mine at Stratotech park last Saturday and had a blast, we are trying to start a MINI owners club in Edmonton http://mini.roadfusion.com/
But is still very quiet, if you want you can register and we'll keep you posted on any event to come, right now there are only a hand full who have signed up but it will eventually lead to something.
You'll love that little car, welcome to this board, there is a lot of good people who know these cars on this site.

Thanks for your message but I was unable to open the link you sent (page could not be displayed).

I'm not sure why it would work, I just tried it and it worked just fine, but there is not much there, seems like nobody is posting, Calgary have a lot of MINI owners proud of their cars and get together at least once a month, Edmonton seems to be a different story.

Hey Jen & zrwon

first off, welcome to the family Jen and a big congratulations to you!

regarding the Edmonton Club, I myself thought it would pick up a bit quicker, but I havent quite given up yet. I've been trying to get more exposure through talking with the dealer and having them help distribute some cards linking to the site. my main contact at the dealer is Mike who drives the service vehicle. i thought he would be best since he sees most owners who gets their minis serviced. we've had a few more signups in the last week.

also, i've finally redone the front page of the site to show the next meet, and a some other information. then a link is provided to the forum to further discuss the topic. if you guys have any suggestions for the site just fire me an email at mini_onslow@gmail.com and i'll do my best to accomodate.

zrwon,
thanks for providing a link to the site. http://mini.roadfusion.com.

also, i see you finally got your HAMANN rims. those look HOT!

take care and see you guys around.

not sure if my last post went through. i will just do a quick recap.

my name is Edmund (Mini_Onlsow) and a friend of mine and myself started a website for owners in edmonton. zrwon has posted there and was kind enough to provide a link to the site

Jen, congrats on your new Mini and welcome to the family! i hope to see you at the site and around the city.

zrwon, thanks again for posting. i know the forum itself has been slow, but i am not giving up yet. i've gone back to the dealer and given them some cards to pass out to help promote the site. since then there has been a few more signups and a couple of posts. a classic owner has contacted me and i've given him some cards as well to pass out so i hope to get more signups from there.

also, for everyone else, i've put up a new homepage to the site. there you will find the next meeting right on the front page so it will be easier to find. if you want to discuss more about it, the forum is linked.

oh and one last thing, zrwon, glad to see you got your HAMANN rims and they look HOT!

if anyone has any questions, just email me. motor@roadfusion.com

thanks, edmund.

Seeing that you guys finally have a MINI club, maybe we can meet up some time during September/October and have a nice cruise together? I'm thinking maybe meeting somewhere in the middle like Sylvan Lake, or maybe futher away in the mountains so we can enjoy some twisty roads. Maybe Jasper where we stay over for a night?

The Calgary MINI "club" doesn't have an official website or organizer, although I have been responsible for organzing most of the meets so far. Our "official" meeting place is over at Mini2.com's forums, so if you like, go there and post any ideas you have about a Calgary + Edmonton meet!

I for one would be up for a "meet ya halfway" run starting in Red Deer or Sylvan Lake with the Calgary and Edmonton MINI enthusiasts. From there a nice run on the David Thompson Highway through Rocky Mountain House and on to Abraham Lake should be fairly picturesque that time of year. There may be more response for a day trip only to avoid accommodation planning and costs, parks costs, etc., so a return trip via Highway 22 North or South would be worth a try, I know the Wild Rose Miata Club uses this secondary highway for some of their runs.
If some of you more established Calgary runners can get together on this we should be able to attract some Edmonton owners as well, you know for the ole' civic pride.

I've been searching and can't seem to find any local Edmonton Mini club.

http://mini.roadfusion.com/ doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Are you a member of facebook?

We do have a group of us here in Edmonton who get together every couple of months to bust around time, and socialize. If you are not a member let me know, and I can keep you posted on the events we do..
