Sorry, guys...
Sorry, guys...
I just want to apologize to everyone for ruining the whole detailing clinic thing yesterday.
For those who weren't there, this happened:

At Wellzy's:
Big chunk of missing rim at the top:
I went around the corner wayyyyy too damn fast and lost control. I hit that sign, flipped the car onto its passenger side, and slid about 15-20 feet or something. I'm fine, save for some scratches and god-awful bruising caused by hanging from my seatbelt for about 10 minutes.
They had to cut through the windshield and put me on a backboard and take me out through the boot. All the EMTs and rescue peoples were really nice to me. The ER doctor kept making fun of me and even brought in another doctor and was like "This is the girl that flipped her MINI"
The sheriff was really nice and only charged me with failing to maintain control of my vehicle since I haven't had any moving violations or anything in the last year. He could've gotten me for speeding and a whole mess of other stuff. He was really happy I was okay and sat around talking to Phil and Wellzy while I was getting X-Rayed.
It's probably going to be reeeeaaaallly close as to whether or not the insurance company decides to total the car. We just have to wait and see on that.
I do want to give major props to all the guys that were there when it happened. I remember Chris & AJ being right there talking to me seconds after the car stopped, and Chris was totally on top of things making sure that I could move all of my extremities and that I was coherent. Phil was understandably shaken up by the whole thing, and everyone really helped him keep it together. Very much thanks (and apologies for ruining the day) to Chris, AJ, and Frank for sticking around and helping us with what is now officially known as "The Incident".
Major thanks to Mark Wells for having my car towed to his place and letting us keep it there. He also came to the hospital and sat with us the whole time, and then he took us back to his place and fed us and allowed me to self-medicate with the stuff in his fridge. He is an awesome friend and an incredible leader, and THIS IS TOTALLY NOT HIS FAULT BECAUSE I'M A MORON.
I also want to thank Rebecca Wells and Kimmay for freaking out and worrying about me long-distancely over the phone.
Really, I would like The Incident not to represent the group as a bunch of dare-devil idiots who don't know how to drive, but as a really close-knit group of friends who know what they're doing and are prepared to go as far as they have to to help one another should the need arise, as it did yesterday. I'm really proud to be a part of this group, and I love you all.
(It's also been decided that I am required to bring my helmet to the next meeting.

I'm just glad that you're okay.
A big thanks to everyone, for helping me keep it together at the scene, taking care of the tow, Mark inviting us back to the house (via different route, I noticed) for some much-needed refreshments, and just being a great group in general.

Been a moron a few times myself! But have been a very lucky one!
Glad you're OK. Sounds like you belong to a great Club!

Tina,
I am so happy that you are ok. That is the most important thing. We all make mistakes, it is what we learn from the mistakes that is important.
I am proud to be one of the founders of Burning River MINI and extremely proud that the members pulled together to help a friend in need.

Glad to hear you are OK. Sorry about your MINI, but after all it is just a car & will be fixed. You being OK is what is really important. I'm glad you had friends with you in your time of need.
I am really glad to hear you are in good shape. I was in the back of the pack and I can't explain the feeling when I came across the bridge and saw your car flipped over. The adrenaline was really pumping as I ran up to the car to make sure you were OK, and I was totally relieved to see you were in pretty good shape given what just happened.
On a positive note, these cars are little tanks! When the car got back to Mark's house, we were able to open/close both doors and roll up the windows with no problems. No fluids leaking, etc. If I ever get in an accident, I hope its in the MINI!

You didn't do that to create the ultimate detailing challenge for the detailing clinic???
On a more serious note, glad to hear that you are ok and that no one else was hurt in your life lesson. Hope you bounce back and are motoring again real soon (probably in a new MINI I suspect).

These car's are tanks, I was surprised to learn that the window's roll up in a crash to help protect the occupant and it worked in this case.
I can't imagine what you were thinking when you came upon the car. I know I was states away and was scared. Tina is a lucky lady and lucky to have so many friends there to help her.

Yes, it is the ultimate detailing clinic.
Yep, it's totalled. The repair estimate was around $9400. They are offering me $10,750 for it. These little cars hold their value very nicely - I had purchased it for about $12,000 two years ago.

Hey lead foot
Well I am really glad you are OK because this could have been much worse. I do have to say when you total a car, you do it right. Thank GOD you were in MINI. Some cars and perople could not have survived that. GOD and your MINI were looking out for you this day.
Recently I backed into a metal post and managed to leave my sun roof open during a thunderstorm. Both of which did not do much phusical damage My pride more than anything. I see this in your message.
You are a racer and with racing the sudden stops at the end hurt the most. If there were law against people who do stupid things, we would all be in jail. I am gald you are OK. It is great you can start shopping for a new toy.
