Aftermarket shops in Korea

Howdy everyone especially my fellow NAMers in Korea. I am looking at placing an order for a MCS MY/B in the next few months.

I am looking to get an idea for where and how many shops cater to the Mini here in Korea. I live down in Daegu but am willing to travel if the shops are better in Seoul or Pusan.

First on the list is a window tint shop and Clear Bra installer. Hopefully one with prior experience. Of course then moving on to a shop that can install new springs. I will most likely order most parts from the US.

English speaking would also help a lot since I am an American.

Thanks for your help.

Looking forward to joining you all in the upcoming events as soon I can.

There are no aftermarket/tuners down south in the Daegu area that I am aware of. There are only 2 shops, and soon to be a third, that will do AM work on the MINI here in Seoul. Also there are only 2 MINI dealerships in Korea.

One think you need to know is that the USA warranty will be dropped to 2 years in Korea. MINI Korea has to transfer the US warranty to Korea. Reason being is that you exported the MINI from the USA.

If you plan on tuning I would recommend that you purchase AM parts from the USA especially of you have a military APO address. Purchasing parts here in Korea is expensive as there are high import taxes for the shops that purchase parts outside of Korea.

Ziebart agency in Daegu

I know that Ziebart agency is in Daegu.
http://www.ziebart.co.kr/ziebart.htm...=&page=3&Pmode=

You can find their call number on the web site.
But,,, I wonder if they can speak English.

ArmyDog, I knew about the warranty situation. Thanks for looking out.

I am a contractor here so I do have access to APO. I plan on going up to Osan and talking with the KOLON motors military car sales folks.

Uglyduck, thanks for the Ziebart website. I didn't see any clear bra information but I can give them a call.

Did either of you have a clear bra, i.e. Venture Shield, 3M, or XPEL, installed here? How about a website for the AM/tuners?

I don't know what Kolon Motors can do for you. FYI Kolon Motors is not authorized to sell/service MINIs in Korea according to Mr. Han the BMW/MINI Manager at Deutsch Motors. If you need to order OEM parts you can do it through MINI Korea. I usually order my OEM or official MINI parts from my original dealer in the USA.

No I do not have a clear bra. My MINI bares it's road scars .

Here are a few tuners here in Seoul:

CAREX. They sell ALTA and also race in the DDGT.
http://www.carex.co.kr/

DYRENN. They have top end AM parts for MINI.

I Motors: where a lot of guys get work done on their MINIs. I just got a lot of work done there.

I am trying to get a shop to sell M7 here too....developing....

Hope some of this information helps.

I think that the clear bra means 'coating'?

I tried 'Diamond Coating' for my MINI at Ziebart agency in Seoul. I know it can't be done in Daegu in spite of Ziebart agency. It is expensive , but good.

I stand corrected.

Can you hook me up with a contact for the authorized Mini US military sales. I was thinking that Kolon had the Mini also because I was looking at getting a BMW through them back in 2003. For all I know they could have lost the deal with BMW military sales too.

A few years back when Minis were not sold in korea the Kolon dealership right outside Yongsan main post told me that they would be an authorized dealer once they became an import.

ArmyDog, could you post or PM me the dealership info. Thank you.

Uglyduck, the clear bra by Venture shield is thermoplastic urethane film, kind of like a super strong clear tape for the bumpers and hood. It protects from rock and other paint damaging road hazards. From the pictures at the Ziebart website, their coating looks like it is buffed onto the paint like a sealant or wax.
