I have had my Alta 3.0" Exhaust for about 2 weeks now and I guess it is time to sell. This is my 5th exhaust and I seem to have a problem with not being satified. I love the way it looks and sounds on the street, but with my head/cam/pulley/header and high flow cats it is a bit loud on the freeway. The exhaust would be fine but I own a company and I'm on the phone 13hours a day talking to customers and the exhaust makes it hard to do business. As much as I love the sound I think I'm to have to go with something softer :-(
I paid $750 about 11 days ago and I will sell it for $600 but I really don't want to ship it. I'm located in Ventura, CA 93003

Mario, install an exhaust valve....problem solved. You're going to be hard pressed to find an exhaust that will be quiet on the highways and yet give you what you need on the weekends.

I don't have th Borla yet, maybe next week? I may get the Non Aggressive or the Aggressive. I hear the Non is one decbial quiter than a stock exhaust.

It seems to be getting faster and faster. I just put on my Aerogel's from M7 today to keep the temps down. The tune was great and I love the 234whp.

Another way to try to solve the problem would be to get a cell phone headset with noise cancelling technology built in. I have a friend who just got a JawBone bluetooth headset for just over $100 and can talk on the cell phone with the radio on and windows open (not a mini owner). This would allow you to have a loud exhaust AND talk on the phone. The Boom also has noise cancelling headsets. I used one of these while I was a Jeep owner (very loud!) and it worked quite well. I would think the money you have spent buying and then selling at a loss 5 exhausts would easily cover the cost of a good noise cancelling headset.

Thank you but my problem is me hearing the customers, they seem to hear me perfect and clear. I guess my phone has a good filter, but I'm interested in the JawBone for awhile now. I think in 2008 everything will have to be handsfree.

If the Borla doesn't satisfy you try the Larini WITH the resonator. I have the Larini without the Resonator and I think you'd have the same problem you have now. I do love the Larini sound.

 

I have thought about this because I have have a partical credit with Larini for my broken Larini Header. I have heard the Larini without the Res on a car with an intake and pulley. I'm sure it would be a great exhuast for me with the Res since I have the head/cam and header. I just need someone to buy my Alta first.

The exhuast valve works in that configuration as an adjustable baffle, the more you close it the more you baffle the exhaust giving you a much quieter ride. Open the valve back up and low and behold its like it was meant to be. You can adjust this from inside the car via a cable pull. Ideally you wont want to run with it closed completely, but if you get a call, you just pull the cable and quiet she goes.
