Feeler: IE 22mm rear sway

i have an ireland 22mm rear sway bar that i recently installed. seems to be too much for the wife when she drove it tonight. sort of freaked her out . for me it's fine but, she'll occasionaly take the MINI out for something. anyhow, i'm thinking about going to something lighter as in reality it is more than i need for street use. the bar is complete with the end links. has some scuffs or normal wear marks on it... the usual stuff. but, if you really wanted to you could easily repaint it in a flash. anyhow i'm thinking $140 shipped and $125 for a local socal pickup.

it's still on the MINI but, depending on how fast i can swap it out, it should be available within the next week or so. i don't use paypal so i can do check or money order.

Strange......the IE 22mm is equivelent to the 19mm solid. Is she complaining about the solid endlinks? Are the endlinks set at the end of the bar (softest)?

she doesn't know. when she told me the words "out of control" i did not want to know anything else as my imagination ran wild. it's set around medium soft. her other issue was the rattling heim joints of the bar. i think it spooked her as it took me a couple days to get used to. the bar is definitely suited more for non-street driving IMHO.

anyhow, it's up for sale if anyone is interested let me know or PM for more info. i'll listen to any offers. it may just take a few days or so to swap it out. so if you are interested keep that in mind.

Yea, the endlinks are noisy. I got used to mine after awhile too. It just seems weird that it would fell so bad as it is not much stiffer than stock.

Good luck !

isn't there an option to put grease nipples on the end links to quiet them down?

On my H&R Comp (21 or 22mm hollow) anything more than full-soft feels very loose for normal street driving. It's fun in a controlled environment, though! :D

Ok, ok, how noisy are they? I just ordered one 2 days ago.... I had no idea it rattled (I hate rattles - even performance ones).

They are noisy. I got used to them, but they are noticable. I am not sure I could even accurately describe the sound. You could always get new ends for the endlinks. This is what rattles.

IMO the rattle was "hair pulling out" inducing but, i'm like the above poster who hates rattles. i have been semi able to ignore it. but, am constantly aware of it. it IS a nice bar and the feeling i got from it after install was immediate. i can see it would be perfectly at home on the track where noises are accepted but, i'm not tracking it and have no plans to. i just enjoy hitting the mountain roads up near burbank on the weekends for my little thrills. i like a peaceful cruise sun roof open and hearing the wind and my exhaust but, want the extra handling.

remember, the WIFE was freaked by the feel not me. for all i know she may have been doing an "italian job". my only gripe is just another of her gripes- the rattle. but, she's not a daredevil so the rattle is enough of an irritant for me to swap it out if it eases her mind on the rare occasion she DOES drive it. we have a single driveway so if i'm parked behind her and she needs to make a run, it's easier for her to take the MINI. besides we take the R50 out whe we go somewhere and the rattle will give her a heart attack. a quieter bar will make me happier and put her at ease when she's in the passenger seat.

the noise is hard to descibe. the closest i can think of and what i thought it was at first was my hatch wasn't closed all the way. then when i realized my boot WAS secured i thought the sound was the end joint rubbing on the rear spring, however it isn't. it's just noisy.

i'm swapping it out for an h-sport and selling the ireland. the h-sport will make me happy with no rattle, and ease her mind too. besides i get another new sway bar .

oh yeah it's still for sale. $130 shipped or $120 local pickup.

i understand i'm not helping my sale here but, If you don't mind the rattle or are a heavy performance driver it's a great bar. it DOES have stellar reviews after all.
