Save the date... the State Fair is coming back & will be in a new location, Pelham, at the Oak Mountain Amphitheater (or Verizon whatevah)

Lets get together & go. We could go one night after work or on a weekend night. I mostly like to go eat all the fair food but I'm always up for riding the rides too.

This year the fair will run from Sept 19th-28th. Hopefully with the new location they will anticipate much better crowds & there will be more food vendors. All my life I have been denied the pleasure of trying a fried candy bar & I hope they will finally have them at the fair so I can feel complete

Here is the link to the Fair website. It's under construction now but hopefully more info will come soon. Here is the website of the company taking over the fair.

I know it's a way off but closer to time we can see when everyone will be free. I am kinda excited like a little kid

I guess with all attention focused on the Olympics, Langford probably doesn't know that the Fair isn't at the Fairgrounds.

Oh he knows. He got mad because the promoter said he was moving to Pelham because of the crime in b'ham & Langford had the nerve to go on TV & say the B'ham was absolutely as safe as Pelham

Hmmm, I've been robbed at gunpoint in Birmingham and in Pelham I have not.
Yep, Langford SAYS a lot of things. The problem is that some people believe him.

Hey, me too! I've been robbed at gunpoint in Birmingham. And now that we live in Trussville, he can keep that Free Dome in the Magic City. The man is delusional. Nice corvette, though.

It's almost time The fair will be here Sept 19-Sept 28. I am kinda thinking I would like to go the first night. After work on the 19th or if some of you would rather go one night after work during the week after let me know. Let me know what dates are best & we can try to narrow it down, meet & go eat some greasy food & ride a ride or 2

I am thinking of hitting the fair opening night, September 19th. Kinda early, maybe around 6PM or maybe a bit later not 100% sure

If anybody wants to meet & go & you have a time that would be better for you let me know so we can arrange to meet somewhere on Hwy 31

No one has really said anything (except erin now ) but me & a few friends are still going to the fair Friday. If anybody wants to join us we will be meeting in the Southern Linc parking lot at 5:30PM (or earlier. We may pull out as early as 5:30). Southern Linc is on Amphitheater Road just off Hwy 31 (207 Amphitheater Rd, Pelham, AL 35124). Basically you take the first left just south of Hwy 119 & the building is on the right. The fair parking lot will be about a 1/4 mile from there. If you are thinking about coming but not sure of your time frame or if you might be coming later PM me & I will give you my cell phone number

Please come if you would like & help me continue following my dream of finding a deep fried candy bar I feel that it is everyone's God given right to have a fried candy bar in their lifetime yet I have been denied thus far I am hoping with the new Pelham fair location this year we might get the good food vendors back.

T, if you find your dream, please post pix of the deep-fried candy bars. Hopefully, they'll be Snickers. Tee hee!

YAY!!

I drove by the fair on my way home yesterday. I wish I had my camera. It looks small but it looks like there is a lot of stuff crammed into the small space. It was really hard to tell from the road.

I just looked at the fair website. Parking is $5, admission is $8. if you want to ride any rides it's $20 for an unlimited ride wristband.

WOOHOO back from the fair. I took some pics with my new pocket camera. Never used it or read the instructions but I think it did pretty good considering

I think we picked the best night to go since it's HS football night. It was getting pretty crowded when we left. I only got to ride one ride since I was with a group of "we don't wanna" riders. I ate a corn dog & a philly cheesesteak. There were no fried candy bars but we found some fried oreos

Erin was there & we ran into each other a lot...

It was a lot of fun. I think the move will prove to be successful for them. It was smaller but there was still plenty to do & see. I recommend going if you are are thinking about it

The fair

Fried oreos

The 1200LB Pig (Well worth the $1 entrance fee. The pics don't show it but man he is one big freakin pig)

Philly Cheesesteak

The Grande Finale & My Favorite Thing...
The Banana Rodeo
