If you don't come ride with us, I warn you... I will take lots of good pictures that will make you regret your decision

The date: Saturday, October 27th (Alabama is off that day if ya care )
The Meet Time: 10AM
Meet Place: Trussville, Chevron (711 Hwy 11, Trussville, AL 35173)

If you have never been to Little River Canyon it is loads of fun. Some of the ride is surprisingly challenging but all of it is laugh-out-loud fun. The scenery is wonderful as we will be riding atop a canyon for most of the drive. There are many pull-offs which allow for some great photos.

Basically, we will take I-59 to Gadsden & then 411 to Leesburg, then we will ride the Little River Canyon curves to Fort Payne, U-Turn & ride them back to Leesburg & come home. This is a longer ride. I estimate the fun to be around 5-7 hours

I recommend that we plan a picnic lunch (I'll bring the chicken salad you bring the bread ). I think there is an ice cream place for us to hit midride but that will have to be an experiment as it's been awhile since I was there & I just can't remember for sure.

Hope to see you all there, come ride with us
yeah I'm talkin to you too "the yuccas"

I think we're going to make the run. I have about a dozen picnic baskets, (erm, hampers) so I'll try to pick and pack a nice kit to share.

That's great that the group will meet up on hwy 11. I keep seeing several MINIs out there since we moved, and I'll tag them if I get the chance. Thanks for setting up the ride, bamatt.

Man, not again! No way we'll make this one.

The 27th is a very big day for us. Its Bruce's Retirement Dinner in Montgomery. After 28 years of service in the Army/SF, this is the last thing. Folks are coming from far and wide to speak on his behalf as the former group CSM. Gotta dress fancy-schmancy too

Please take loads of pic...its the next best thing to being there.....well,not really, we're talking driving Mini's here. I take it back. But do take pics for me.

Miss you guys

Mini Run Protocol Details???
Greetings to All ...

Just joined the forum ... saw the Little River Run scheduled for next Saturday and was wondering about some protocols. Do we need to bring portable radios to chat among the cars and the like? Not sure we will be able to participate, but would like to be on the potential list.

Hi Bill, welcome to NAM & the AMS forums. I would say the only thing you need to bring other than yourself is a 2-way radio if you have one. If you don't, one of us will most likely have a spare you can borrow. We chat on channel 7, subchannel 21

I am bringing some chicken salad, shorn is bringing some bread, & Louispup is bringing some something too so I think we will be good on snacks. I hope you can make the ride & look forward to meeting you

p.s... some of you are gonna freak out when you see me as I am looking a bit different since yesterday

Well according to all of our local weather resources, Saturday looks to be a very sunny day with a high temperature ranging somewhere between 62 & 74. I'm hoping for 74 but I can survive with a jacket if it's cooler

Where would be a good place/time to join up with y'all around Gadsden? I really want to go along, but driving down to Birmingham just to drive back up might be a bit much

Well I don't know what to say Drill. We will be entering Little River Canyon from the South thru Leesburg, AL then we will head towards Ft Payne then U-turn around & ride the canyon back down to Leesburg & come home. MBE you could meet us near Ft Payne but it might be hard to guesstimate what time we will be there

Going down to Gadsden won't be a problem, and I figure it'll be easier to spot y'all as you come off the Interstate. I'm just not too familiar with the area and the time it'll take y'all to get to Gadsden
If nobody knows of a good spot, then we can just head out early and recon the route. Then we'll just merge into the convoy as y'all pass by

I would guess that we will hit Gadsden between 11:15 & 11:30?? We will take 59 to 759 & then on 759 take exit 4B to hit 411. I looked on Yahoo & it says there is a Tiger Mart gas station approx 7/10 of a mile down Hwy 411 (936 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL). How's that for a meet place? Or if you have a better one let me know

There appear to be a few places right there along 411 where you get off of 759, so we'll park just off of 411 and wait for y'all to go by

Don't see the data. I presume this is just off the hwy 11 exit of 459? (somewhere between Hooters and John's city diner)

I went to yahoo maps & entered the address 711 Hwy 11, zip code 35173 & it came up. I assume it's a chevron but who knows if it changed. Just look for my MINI, it sticks out , it's a red cabrio with black & white checkerboard all over it or if you would feel better having my cell number just PM me & I will give it to you

p.s.. yes it look like the chevron is on hwy 11 (at exit 148 off 59)

I had a great time guys I think my favorite part was playing tag right at the beginning.... or wait MBE it was getting lost 3 times because my NAV lost its mind... Oh wait no I think it was almost hitting the wild turkey crossing the road. Nah my fav part was the return ride & taking those rollercoaster hills spiritedly enough to feel the G-Forces in the valleys

Sorry about all the confusion at the onset, glad y'all survived my chicken salad

Definitely the return ride - the roller coasters and the twisties were a hoot! Puts Hwy 25 to shame. Worth the ride up there.

Can't upload my pics, can't find the cord. But highlights for me were zooming up the steep hills, the carousel affect of various MINIs up and down motion on those little rolling hills, vanishing from view to rise again. Lunch was nice, new folks were friendly. People taking pictures of our parked cars. The spirited ride back.

Thanks for setting it up, BamaTT. Nice way to spend the off week (beat LSU!)

Hate I missed it. You all send me some pictures so I can upload them to the website. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. Maybe Colleges will stop playing football on saturdays and I can go on one of those trips with ya.
