Auto X?????
Auto X?????
Is there any Auto X events here in birmingham? I think it would a lot of fun to learn how to do this...what would it take to get started?

The nice thing about getting started is that you can drive your stock car to the track and drive.
The annoying thing about auto-x is that you spend all day on a hot parking lot, work the course several hours, and end up driving your car for about 5 minutes.
Going to an autocross school is a BIG plus.
Here in Birmingham, ALSCCA does the autocross. Check them out here: http://www.alscca.org/solo2/index.shtml
I raced with them for 3/4 of a season a couple years ago in the G-stock class. I became rather frustrated with their organization because the race officials refused to enforce the rules and allowed people to race modified cars in my stock class. Although I was leading the class in points and pretty much had the season trophy locked up, I quit racing with them because it is no fun to race against cheaters. YMMV
If you want the best bang for your buck and quality performance driving training, I would suggest avoiding auto-x and spending your $$$ on a track weekend at Barber Motorsports Park with BMWCCA or any other sports car club that rents the track for driving events. In one day you will drive your car more than you would in several years of auto-x

My dad and brother did the barber driving school last weekend but unfortunaltly i didnt make the age limit...i was still there though haha. i was thinking auto x wouldnt have as stict an age limit...(maybe barber is the reason for the age limit???) I am just looking for a way to learn how to be a better/more skilled driver. I did take a driving school in atl although unfortunatly not in my mini.
