It appears that the campground is already fully booked! Anyone with a reservation able to accomodate a single small tent? TIA

I tried a couple days ago and ran into this problem... was hoping it was just the woman I spoke with not wanting to take another reservation *sigh*

Mark me down as #3 looking for a small pad of slightly soft dirt to put up a tent and mark a MINI.

for you campers, on the bottom of the Lodging page HERE, there are several other campsites available. I believe that Cheoah and Cable Cove are the closest to Fontana

I just reserved a hook-up site! There were no more standard sites so I took what I could get.

Oh, but hookups are a good thing! You have a plug for a little heater (in case it's cold in your tent) and a water hookup. Take a hose, bucket, and supplies and you can give your MINI a bath every afternoon.

I just got the last hook-up site. Apparently when I called a month ago they only checked tent sites, and did not include hook-up sites, which are $10 more per night.

Camping MOTD 2010
Who all is camping this year? We just got registered and set up!

This will be our first time to MOTD and first time camping outside of Ohio. Hmm... what to do for camp meals in bear country.

Can't Wait!! Let the countdown begin!

We are camping again this year (third MOTD, second time camping) at Fontana. Where are you setting up camp?

You'll have a great time. Haven't decided if I'm going to bother with towing the popup camper down again or just go with tents this time....probably will wait until closer to the event to decide. The camper is great, but 7 hrs each way towing a camper with a MINI is not exactly a relaxing drive....so I'm leaning towards the tents at this point.

FWIW, I didn't see any major wildlife (bears, deer, etc.) at the campground, but I'm sure they are around.

We'll be camping at Fontana at a tent site. Not sure on the actually site location #, but yea... down there!

Wow, don't think I'd want to tow a camper behind me either!

It was very likely me. If it was a red Cooper pulling a red popup camper with a big *** Union Jack painted on the roof.....that was me.

I have a blue Cooper S now, so if I take the camper, I'll have to repaint it to match the car again, of course! Not too sure I'll be able to closely match Laser Blue with latex paint, though.

I'm still not sure if we will be towing the pop up, but I finally got it repainted to match the new car....so I thought I'd share. Not a bad match for blue latex gloss paint against a metallic blue car.

Old....

New...

Rock slide or not....see you there!

This will by my third MOTD, and third year camping. The atmosphere in the campground is phenomenal. Plan on having nightly campfires for the entire camping community. Last year we had one morning where we cooked pancakes and everyone chipped in with this or that.

shared site?
Looks like I am coming to MOTD- my third time. I know there are other campgrounds, but Fontana is too convenient. I am planning to arrive late Thursday night (driving from Indy after work) and depart on Sunday. I'll split the cost of course.

Is anyone willing to share a small corner of their campsite? It's just me and a tent. . .
