ok ill do the software stuff.. but uh.. i won't be responsible..
on my list to do while i wait
1. fight with neighbor
2. fend off mps due to fight with neighbor
3. go to emergency room due to high blood pressure due to neighbor
4. watch big brother until my eyes hurt
5. download nam to my itouch so i can be reading this while i am in the emergency room due to high bp due to neighbor..
if the registration would open.. then i wouldn't have time to deal with neighbor.. my blood pressure would be good .. and id be ready to motor.. away.. away. far far away from said neighbor..
notice the trend here?

I like the "boston cream pie" - French Vanilla with Whipped Cream, Cake, and chocolate sauce.

My other favorite is sweet cream with double oreos, double brownies, and hot fudge!

Man... It's 10:58... Cold Stone is across the street, but I doubt that I can make it there in 2 minutes

The above is for the attendees. I do something very similar for the vendors

is all the data on a local host, or is it setup on the web server to store the info into the server db.. Are you looking for a desktop app to save to the local server, or a web based app to log into to and manage through the web browser..

Waiting......for MOTD to open.
The Virginia GWR is on hold til late July early August because of date conflicts with other events on the East Coast.

I'm just a tiny bit baffled by the fact that we have so many MINI's gathering for MOTD that I thought the Virginia group would be better off doing it then and there.
I understand that they want it to be a stand-alone project but if it is already being moved around and date changed then why not bring it to MOTD?

In any case I'll be there to loan my MINI to the final count.

Or why not count all of the MINIs in the Dragon Parade... It's got to at least come close to 500!

How about a combo Dragon Parade / GWR attempt.

Can't count the MINIs in the parade, there are rules as to the spacing of the cars IIRC.

Also, if it were just an event at MOTD, you will never get enough people. To be successful, it really needs to be it's own event, with a single purpose.

Steve is correct. Tecnically, the parade just has to be a mininum of 2 miles and can't have more than two car lengths of seperation between MINIs. Then you have to have multiple sources of verification like photograhps, video tape, etc.

We had already applied for and received a claim number from GWR to do this at the Dragon this year, but decided to drop it after we found out the VA crowd was gonna make it a annual thing

it'd be very difficult to do a GWR safely in that neck of the woods, especially the 2 mile minimum. You'll see why.

The Virginia guys have the route all worked out, with LEO cooperation, and it's done for a charity that benefits the families of fallen Navy SEALs, through really cool Tshirt sales.
Last year, that Rudy guy from one of the Survivor tv shows was there. He's a retired SEAL.

It's also just the one day to do the record...no vendors, except the Tshirt folks..we went to a restaurant after, had lunch, and everyone pretty went their separate ways. Who knows what this year will bring?

I'll be there to find out, hopefully...if they do it in the 1st 2 weeks of August, I can't go...

Wow! I had the same dream.
Take a look at the time this message was posted and you'll see exactly when I was shaken from my peaceful sleep.
I was dreaming that I was in a long line of MINIs coming up from the lower half of Fontana Dam and the people from Guinness were saying we were
disqualified because the pure silver cabrio was not registered.
Wow, now I'm afraid if I go back to sleep I'll miss the registration.
I better stay awake from now till this registration thing is over.

1st year heading to MOTD. What is the purpose of registering? I have the MCS, campsite, camping gear, and great public roads. So what does registration get me?

Primarily, Registration is your way of contributing to the event. MOTD is a grassroots event but someone has to pay for facilities, expenses to help set things up and run events, etc. You also get some cool swag when you pick up your registration materials.

One of the items in your swag-bag will be a name tag (and lanyard in 2006 when I was last there) that gets you admitted to various organized functions like the day drives, MINI car show, dinners, the Brew Swap, Casino Night, etc (additional cost for some events).

You are right... you could come, camp at Fontana and drive the roads without ever registering. A lot of the fun of the event, though, would be missed, as the social aspects of being a true part of the MINI enthusiast community in Fontana that weekend would be unavailable without the tag.

Registration costs are generally very modest when compared to the size and scale of the event.

Just like last year this year will have a "Passenger Registration" and a "Driver Registration". The Passenger is a no frills registration which helps defray the costs associated with the event (which this year includes a huge tent). It also enables you to register for specific events which require registration such as the car show, the brew swap, monte carlo night and Draggin the Dragon (sp). The Brew Swap & MCN have a separate entry fee which helps pay for those events and/or raises money for charity.

The Driver registration gets you what I noted above plus a t-shirt and other miscellaneous swag.

You'll hear people complain, as they do every year, about the registration business. Pay them no mind. There is a LOT involved in having this event and costs are a part of it.

And be sure to set aside plenty for t-shirts. Last year I bought enough t-shirts (since it was our first MOTD, we bought one for every event we participated in) that I didn't need to pack any.

Ok, now for the big question.
Who has been in line the longest?

And that does not equate to who ate the most cookies, either!
