During the coming weeks I am going to be working on a plan for an event at MOTD 2008. For lack of a better event name I am going to call it "The Dragon Audio Get Together."

Last year at the Dragon I spent some time wandering around looking for some different examples of MINI audio installations. I think it would be cool to gather for a couple of hours during the day and put our cars on the field at Fontana. We could compare notes on OEM system installs, after-market parts, ipod, sat radios, sub woofers, DPSM installs, blue tooth stuff, you name it. The idea is to have examples of all kinds of various MINI sound system installs and give people information along with the ability to compare car audio systems.

I plan to show off my 2006 MCS DPSM system to anyone who wants to see it.
Also I think we should reserve a "special place" for Edge's "Mr. OEM" DPSM demonstration...

More to come. My initial thought is to have a couple of hours during early afternoon on one day when no other events are happening if possible. Nothing fancy, just a get together....more to come...thoughts?

 

If it gets done by then, that is... I don't know... they only have another 5 months or so!

 

Perhaps an AWARD of some sort?

 

Last year, the night before the official start of MOTD, there was a big music display with multiple MINIs cranking various music, and assorted lighting effects from a few of the "lit" cars...

The joking title of this was "Club Dragon".

I think it would be really neat to deliberately recreate that scene, perhaps combined with the great stereo system demo idea of yours. LOL... the only net difference between our DPSM installs will be the type of soundproofing.

Of course I'll have other things to demonstrate, including the OEM SIRIUS, full OEM Bluetooth (with Nav integration), Intravee iPod adapter, etc... but I doubt there will be any one feature of my MINI that is particularly unique across all of MOTD. Well... perhaps the full OEM Bluetooth solution, since not many people coughed up the cash for that. Heh.Hehe - very good point. My goal at the moment is to have it back for Christmas!

 

I like the light show add-on...it would be cool to see those mods...

Nav and bluetooth sound cool too...I also have a Garmin 360 w/bluetooth installed and a valentine 1. We could compare installs on those kinds of items as well to trade ideas on how to do certain things...like direct wiring etc...sounds like fun to me.

 

does that include lights AND tv AND playstaions too?

We are planning a car show for Friday afternoon so that will be one opportunity to view/compare notes on some of the cars that enter. But I guess you'd want to do this at night, or at least dusk so we can enjoy the light show.... wouldn't it be cool if we could get a small radio station broadcast so that every car could be playing the same thing? We could play a variety of music so that you can compare setups with different sounds.
