I have camped the last 3 years... had a blast, at the fontana site seen above at the base of the dam. last year I shared with VROOOOM, it was great.

this year I need to share as they do not have my booking and are all booked up apparently... hmm... I thought I booked it on checkout.

so if anyone wants to open their site to a cannuck.. I'll bring the maple syrup!!!!

J

I booked and paid the deposit before leaving last year for a spot I'll double check that they have not lost mine, if they have not you are more than welcome to camp in my area.

I'll throw my official request in as well.

We'll have two MINIs, two tents, and four people. So long as we have power, I'll bring a coffee maker and an electric skillet and make breakfast. (plus pay 2/3 of the camping fee)

I thought we were locked in for one of the three sites with shelters, but I'm not sure who has them actually reserved

I'd like to try the camping thing too (since I'm cheap and my brother has a nice tent) so I'm looking for a little land to sleep on if anyone wants sublet part of their lot. I'll be bringing a cooler full of stuff and may try getting a little grill to bring down, I also have a power converter for plugging in small electronic accessories in the car for whoever may need a camera, phone, laptop, MP3 player, or whatever topped off.

Glad you hear that you are going to be here again this year, Fontana told me that we have one of the shelters, I think they are putting us in #18 we were next to you in #19 last year....(P.S. you cook one mean breakfeast)
I will be bringing my Christmas lights again to decorate the shelter for everyone to use in the evenings again.

So I called Fontana today for camping, and I'm in the 30s on the waiting list. Had to try... any other suggestions?

I'd be up for a shared site, anyone!

Any others maybe got room for one more? If worse comes to worse I can always stay a bit away and pull the long commute.

I have been putting off calling up there and just did and got a RV site, maybe the tent sites are full and you should ask for a RV site. You will have power so you don't need a generator and water to wash your MINI

Like last year, I'm planning on bringing a extra hose and a couple of buckets/mitts & auto soap and will have it available so everyone camping can wash our cars too. please bring something for yourself to dry it off though since I won't have enough towels for everyone

Has anyone stayed at the Iron Horse Motorcycle lodge? Camping or bunkhouse?
http://www.ironhorsenc.com/

I'm trying to come to MOTD on a low budget, this place looks decent and maybe only 20 minutes or so away from Fontana, in Stecoah. I haven't called for availability yet, but sounds like camping is probably available.

Has anyone stayed here or have input on it?

Thanks.

it is, but it was last year and there were empty spots... as people upgraded or found a floor to bunk on...

Last year I shared my site with someone who came, this year somehow I do not have a site booked, but someone is gonna let me sublet a spot..

I don't see an issue with you finding some space to sublet as well.

BSUCardnialfan, are you bringing 4-people/2-tents or is it just you and your wife (2-people/1-tent) joining us? Me and my brother will share my tent (I won't know if my bro will be able to make it though until the last minute because it will be very close to his wifes delivery date.)
