I think I've worked out my own Midnight run/casino drinks dilemma. Instead of driving, I'm going to be a navigator. I will just do my own midnight run as a driver some other night. That should give me the best of all worlds!

After planning touring rallies in 2004 and 2005 and then organizing the autocross last year I vowed to schedule absolutely nothing for this year. I haven't even done the minimum registration. I have kept the vow....until I saw the Tshirts for Monte Carlo night. They kind of drew me in. I think this and the brew swap have to be the most mingling type of events happening.

You mean these shirts:

Heh! I couldn't resist a little extra plug! I have to agree. I like a lot of this year's shirts, but - even though I'm clearly biased - I think this is one of the best! (Thanks Craig!)

queenB, as a founding officer of the PittStop MINI Club - and having remained involved in planning events, etc. since 2003 - I know well what you are going through. I did step back to some degree after the first, exhausting year (...but I also became a Motoring Advisor about then!). While I sometimes wish I could just "be there" taking it all in, I just can't seem to extricate myself from it all. I can't help myself from wanting to do things and see them come together - and watching people enjoying themselves. Somehow, for reasons I don't even fully understand, it is important to me to help make things happen and continue building the MINI community. ...Boy, I wish I had this kind of commitment in other areas of my life!

Thank you so much! We had so much fun on your rally in 2005, I am glad that you decided to break your vows!

Would rescheduling the Casino to Thursday night increase interest?

It seems that we have run into some hesitation with folks not wanting to register for the MINIs In Monte Carlo Casino Night since it is slated for Saturday night between the Dragon Banquet and the Midnight on the Dragon. (Yes, it is more than just minimotorin and his friends!) Our original thought was to schedule it for Thursday night after the Welcome Dinner, but we were encouraged to do Saturday for other reasons.

Now, since registration is somewhat lower than we need to see, we'd like to get YOUR feedback on which night you'd prefer. Obviously it is a little difficult to change horses in the middle of the stream - but if the majority of the people already registered are OK with moving it and even more people would register by moving it to Thursday, then we'd do it. If it seems like it would only create aggravation and frustration without significantly boosting interest, then we'd have no reason to change it.

SO, please let us know your preference in this poll.

I voted no in the poll, as I won't be there by Thursday night. Can I safely assume there will be refunds to folks like me and mine?

Yes, as responded in the poll thread, IF we change the night refunds would be made.

And, for the record: we will only change it if we get both the majority of current registrants on board AND a significant increase in participation from folks not currently registered. It is just too much hassle to bother changing it otherwise.

Just so that we don't leave this all up in the air for too long, we'll be *closing the poll this Sunday, March 25 at 12:00 noon* *EST*. Get your votes in and say your piece by then!

Clearly, as the polling stands now, everything is staying as it is for Saturday night. There needs to be quite a few more in the first category and a significantly larger spread between the 3rd and 4th before things change.

w00t! Come on 200!

We've still got virtually 1 month left for registrations. Frankly, for a first year event, getting 100 registrations in 2 weeks is quite good - especially for having missed the initial opening of registration! Despite all of our recent anxiety and bellyaching - I think we're actually doing purty darn good!

Great! That's exactly what I was hoping to hear -- you've got 2 more.
Only 98 to go - home stretch . . .

I find it somewhat comical that in the "come on 700" thread we're counting up and in this one, we almost seem to be counting down!

I feel like singing (to the tune of 99 Bottles of Beer):

99 regsistrations remaining.
99 registrations.
Chalk one up! Hey, dude, whassup?
98 registrations remaining!

Ok, now, EVERYBODY...
