5th Annual MINIs on the Dragon (May 3-6, 2007)The 5th Anniversary of the largest MINI event in the nation. Ready to take your turn trying to tame the Dragon?
I've not heard of any other events up there, so unless someone can think of a reason not to, lets depart from the top of the Fontana Dam. There's a ton of parking up there.
Edit: Departure is from the old registration area.
Clo, can you remember if the old registration lot is big enough? For the life of me, I can't picture it clearly.....

These are MINIs, remember? LOL! Yes, it can handle a lot of MINIs, particularly if they are just lining up to meet. I think someone may want to make a phonecall to Fontana's event coordinator to ask about using the Old Reg Lot for the meeting point.
Yeah, the Brew Swap had many more attendees and utilized that lot. It should suffice quite nicely.
Now, for those not staying at Fontana, but closer to Robbinsville, perhaps they could meet at Ingles, then meet the Fontana contingent along the route to Soda Pops.
P.S. There are a lot of folks who have signed up for the run but not one of our really cool t-shirts. You don't want to be one of the under-dressed. :-) Check out the t-shirt thread and order today. End of commercial. Go back to what you were doing. :-)
I'm going to be rafting on the Ocoee River Saturday morning but it looks like the timing will be right to meet up with the group in Bryson City on my way back. Then I can join the caravan back to Fontana. So can you put me down for ice cream and the return leg only?
I'm going to be rafting on the Ocoee River Saturday morning...
Where were you last year? I organized a rafting outing on the Nantahala and I had a whopping two people join me. I just can't understand why ice cream is more popular than the 40 degree water of the Nantahala.

Brrrrr! Better to get frozen-forehead syndrome from enjoying ice cream than frozen-other "body parts" syndrome in that nippy water! wink:

Last year I was a new MINI owner and didn't even know about MOTD until it was over. But I have been riding the Ocoee River for 20 years. I never get tired of it, no matter how cold the water is.
I sure hope everyone on the ice cream run isn't going to miss the group photo. Although it's still not official, last I heard is that it's planned for 1 PM on Saturday.
Mark asked me to write up a description so he can get a link on the event planner for this. Since we don't have all the details ironed out, I did my best and here is what I told him: Saturday at 1:30, old registration lot, caravan to Soda Pops in Bryson City. Keep an eye out for the link, and don't forget to register so we know how many are coming.

All the details have been updated in the main post (#4). Departure will be from the TOP of the dam, but other than that, it looks good.

I read through all the posts, and it seemed that everyone agreed that there is enough space in the registration lot, so that's what I told Mark. No one else was taking the time to get in touch with him to get it on the planner, so I'm sorry if I made a mistake. It's now on the event planner, so the date, time and place are set. Don't forget to register!
You might want to update post #4 again. It still says we are leaving from the top of the dam. I'm easily confused.
All I know is that if you go to the event planner, and click on "ice cream run", you'll see the details there. The date, time and place are clearly stated in the event description. If you do that, you can then register (for free) for the ice cream so we have a better head count. Ignore previous posts because the converstation was all over the place about where to meet. See you there!
Post #4 is updated with the departure location as the old registration area and now has a link to the event planner. Thanks for getting it on the planner. How do people indicate on the planner how many people are coming since it's one sign-up per NAM account?
Edit: Post #4 updated with map to old registration area.
