That makes four.

Maybe we should start a list of people that need rooms.

As rooms become available, because of cancellations, the cancelling party could PM the next Waitee on the list with a first right of refusal before they call Fontana to actually make the cancellation.

How could we get somethig like that going?

Keith

What about the people that are on the actual waiting list at Fontana though?

Well, anyone who needs to cancel and doesn't want to pay a cancellation fee will troll on here looking for someone to take the spot.

Speaking of which, I have two guests coming to the Brew Swap from Wisconsin. If anyone has a cabin to share or a room they can give away please let me know. Bribery is not out of the question.

well i understand that, i was just thinking about how much it would suck to have been on the waiting list for months and then someone who hasn't been waiting at all comes along and takes the room. -shrug- doesn't matter to me personally.. i reserved last year, was just a thought.

Hey great! We're coming down from WI as well; are they interested in caravaning?

I'm signed up for a camping spot at Fontana. I don't know if they limit the number of tents or not, but I don't have a problem with them pitching a tent on the same plot if it's allowed...

Yeah camping is like a last option for them. I found some places close by but Fontana would be best. Remind me closer to the event and I'll check with them to see if they plan to caravan. They'll either be in a BMW 5 something or a 911.

Having started this one I have still heard from no one (yet). Like most of you I am also on the Fontana list. No one can say we are not trying!!

Perhaps we should rent a large RV Bus and do the twisties in that with the GP in tow?

Renting an RV and staying at the campground might be a neat idea. . . .

There will be some (currently undetermined) number of SotaMINIs caravanning down to Fontana. We will be leaving the Twin Cities on the morning of Tuesday 1st May, probably staying Tuesday night in Indianapolis.

You would be welcome to join us if you wish.

Chris

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the offer. At this point I think we will be leaving early on Thursday morning, making it just in time for dinner Thursday evening.

If I read the map correctly, it should only be a 10-11 hour ride from Milwaukee to Fontana. If we change our plans (which may happen!) and want to hook up, I'll let you know.

Thanks, Ed

We'll be leaving wednesday from Kenosha, plan on spending the night at Cumberland Falls KY. It's the only place in the hemisphere where you can see a "Moonbow" and the timing is perfect! Anyone coming through should consider it, a unique opportunity! Hopefully we'll run into some of you guys along the way!

So.. what happens with the deposit that was paid if a switch is made? I have a lodge room reserved and *may* have to back out. If I do, of course I will offer it here instead of just cancelling. What is standard procedure... new occupant pays old occupant for their deposit and assumes reservation?

ETA: Oops, guess I should have said this to begin with. We will not decide if we're going or not until April or so... so I am not promising dibs or anything to anyone since everything can change by then and I do not want anyone to count on my room and then end up with no place to stay. I'm going... but it may not be over night.. I live close enough to just drive up there. We just have soooo much going on in April and may be in serious need of rest in May.

ROOM IS TAKEN, please... no further inquiries

You can give someone your reservation number and they can call Fontana and make the switch. You will get refunded and the new person will put the deposit on their CC. They will get a new reservation number and a confirmation number. Depending on who you talk to at Fontana you may need to call yourself to alert them that you are allowing the change. The first time I called I was told that so I called later, got a different person who made the switch no questions asked.

Would it be fair to ask when a room is available you start from the top of this thread and work your way down?
