Usually when an important major revision of an iconic car appears, there’s a lot of “buzz.” Is there another forum with more activity on the 4th gen? Taking delivery today of a ‘25 Melting Silver/Black S….I have a few questions! Thx. 🙏
Hi…thx for the fast response! Finally! Signs of life on this forum! The power seats are on the “Iconic” model. Also on the Iconic is the upgraded HK sound (rather essential). But for now, it’s included at zero charge on the less expensive S models. This is a temporary perk due to a shortage in components for the standard audio. To further clarify, there is a major benefit in not paying for the Iconic model, at this time only! Blind spot, standard, across the entire line.
The F66 was launched with basically zero fanfare, so I don't think there is much activity anywhere right now. Mini put all their marketing push into the J01, which isn't even coming here
I was a little hesitant to look at any Mini past the point where they dropped the manual, having come from a manual 2002 S, 2016 countryman S, 21 JCW and 22 SE, but I have to say after a test drive of the F66, I was sold and am now rolling around in the lil' guy. The handling feels amazing. But you really have to be into the big round techie screen and I see why that's a turn off for people. I'm looking forward to seeing what mods come out for the new models. Perhaps in the future Mini will make an EV with a faux stick shift and clutch and program it to emulate the feeling of manual (I'm not a fan of paddles at all).
I had the 2022 SE for about 2.5 years and ended up trading it in. Really loved it and the concept of one-pedal driving but the short range became a hurdle, especially in winter in the northeast. I think the EV infrastructure has improved a little bit since then, but I really think the US needs a lot more fast charger locations and quantities at said locations. Future Mini EVs will have a bunch of more range than the 119 or whatever my model had, so it will be less of issue when going skiing or on road trips.
I was also surprised to see virtually no active discussion forum anywhere about a brand new model with so many changes! Just picked mine up after wanting a Mini for years (I refused to get one without Android Auto stock installed) and now I want to talk about finally having one! Haha!
I've been loving the new F66 so far as a daily driver, minus some software quirks which I hope they patch out. The new body shapes have grown on me too. It's nice having all the modern car features that haven't been an option in Minis before, seat massage, power seats, blindspot markers (even though I always turn my head). There are a few missed opportunities for physical buttons, features that I feel should have physical buttons rather than having to menu dive. But overall, pretty good. The heated steering wheel, while not new, is one of those thing that once you have you you hate not having one (in winters).
