The Off-Topic Band
I'm bringing my world beat kit. It'll be nice to play "percussionist" and not be responsible for keeping the primary beat. (which nobody in my band adheres to anyway; oh those runaway, enthusiastic tambourine players)

With 50+ musicians, and most of us amateurs, I'm not sure how much it will matter whether or not you know what song we're playing.

I'm leaving around 2 PM today for my pre-dragon backpacking rtip, so I'll see all y'all down there!
I just got done playing on my drums a little and was try to come up with a way to get the set in my MINI plus all the other stuff I need to bring. I may do a test pack tomorrow to see what I can come up with.
But I still think the pots and pan idea is a good idea.

Ok had a blast at the Jam. I ended up not haven't to play on Pots and pans but I did for a short time play on a beer bottle, and a wash bucket. Anyway I ended up playing on Louispup's Cymbal from his kit, and MINIclo's hand drum. I had a blast.

OMG, Mark! You are a FANTASTIC sax player! Thanks so much for jamming with us! I'll post a thread with the final calculations...people continue to give me money for the Tipitina Fund...

you all sounded great! I was going out of my mind trying to find a couple of people plus get ready for the Midnight run, etc.. Can't wait until next year.. definately going to come down for longer than 48 hours.. I'll be jamming next year for sure..
Thanks everybody for showing up (even if we lost some to the rescheduled movie...). I had a great time! Special thanks to the guardian angel (sorry, don't remember your name
) who rescued me by grabbing my guitar and belting out Heart of Gold and a couple of other tunes.
Mark - the sax rocked!
Chris - the percussion was awesome!
I demand a photo of sndwave rocking the cowbell.

Chris, Hugo (son of a MINI owner), was the fellow who joined us, along with SpiderX, who brought out the Peavey amp.
Great idea to do the jam. The Sax was wicked and the picking was really nice too. Everybody kept the beat. Vocals could use some improvement
but the spirit was there and I really enjoyed playing with you all. Thanks!

Kudos to all you musicians. I was jumping back and forth between watching you guys and trying to score some swag at the social, but you all did great!
I did get a couple ten second movies of you guys which came out pretty good considering it was just a canon elph camera that I was unfamiliar with, but if anyone is interested I could attach them to an email. Unfortunately, I think I got everyone but sndwave who seemed very adept at keeping a porch beam between us.
Anyway, great show!

I was with my new GF of 7+ months and asking her to the Mini "gig" was a test of her tolerance (which she passed with flying colors) I did not want to add "all night jam" to the "mix"...... guitar has been a passion for me since I was about 13..... now 55.... getting up with you all was lots of fun...thanks for including me..... next year will be fun.
