Should we start a list of who is participating and what instrument(s) they are bringing? Maybe a different thread??? Suggestions are appreciated!

Right you are, Clover! If we get more than three oboes, the whole balance will be off! I do hope others will have room to bring guitars. I will bring one, probably a hollow-bodied electric and a bass if my son is able to make it. And everyone can use my guitar... it's for playing, not for show.

Heck yeah!

I have a bass, but I definitely wouldn't call myself a bass player. I've probably played it for about an hour total.

What's "Rocky Top"? I don't know that one.

How about "Life on Mars" by Bowie? I love that song, and it only has about a million chords.
Chris,

Would you like me to sing "Rocky Top" for you. Us seasoned veterans used to belt it out while raising a brew or 2

BTW, I'll be playing my secret percussion instrument & of course singing along with my melodious voice

Lois

Awaiting approval from the MOTD overseers, DCMM, but it looks like The Off Topic Band Dragon Jam will be on Saturday, May 6!

We'll gather on the covered porch of the Fontana Village Rec Hall immediately following the Farewell Dinner and jam from 8:30 - 10:30 PM.

Those doing the Midnight Run on the Dragon will have plenty of time to get to the gathering point by 11 PM.

All participants will be asked to donate a minimum of $5 to the Tipitina Tip Jar....in support of The Tipitina Fund, to assist those New Orleans musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

There will be registration forms circulated on clipboards for those making donations. I will be e-publishing an Official Limited Edition Dragon Jam Songbook, which will include digipix from The Jam (I'll ask folks to submit those to me for inclusion in The Songbook), and I may add some of my own original art to the official songlist. The Songbook will be emailed to all registrants after I get it together.

The Off Topic Band Dragon Jam is sponsored by MKO with CooperBeagle as its Musical Director and sndwave and myself are its producers.

ALRIGHTY THEN! Looks like we gotta show!

This is gonna be great fun... An open jam needs just a few musicians to get things started, and some fun, easy songs to keep it going... then as everyone pitches in, it should be a good time on fantastic weekend!

OK, so those who suck at playing guitar count off:

"ONE!" (That's me.)

My illustrious career at air-guitar started in 1964, in the loft of the hay mow, pretending I was one of the Beatles. She loves you Yah Yah Yah Yaahh!

A new verse or two for our rendition of Tom Waits' "Cold Water":

My MINI's in the shop and it looks like trouble.
Looks like trouble, an' it looks like trouble.
My MINI's in the shop and it looks like trouble.
Looks like trouble well it looks.

(bridge, or whatever ya want to call it)
Drove all day, to find the Dragon
Well, I got lost twice, fell off the wagon.
My copilot, ain't no god.
Well she took all my money an' my new i-pod.

Will do... And the verses where we name names... well, they are better not written down!

"Well, ______'s at the cabin and she sure looks friendly.
Sure looks friendly, well she..."

Just kidding, just kidding!

Ok - I'm signed up. I'm wondering now if there should be a checkoff for guests, spouses, SO's etc. What do you think Clo, my SO likes to keep incognito.

Thanks for registering, Randy! I appreciate it.

Well, I guess in the instrument section, you could post how many others will be in your party. I know she's going to be there, so I will add her to my own list.
