It's supposed to be . I'll be looking into this in the next couple of minutes.

I've sent an email to Smoky Mountain MINIs as they are coordinating the Cook Off. As soon as I receive rules I'll get them up in the MOTD area.

Thanks

Mark

Question

The registration and insurance being offered/required leads me to believe that someone has sued or tried to sue someone or and organizer of the event. Is this the case? Has someone tried to sue an organizer? If so what was the out come?
To me it is pretty ridiculous to sue someone for something "stupid" you did. But I know it happens. Like people suing McDonalds for making the coffee hot of making them fat.
Anyway I was just curious. Anyone know?

Nope actually it hasn't happened. Just like your car insurance, it's a just in case type of thing. There was a HUGE stink over insurance before last year's event, this is to avoid that this year.

There is no history of lawsuits stemming from the MOTD event. That said, in today's day and age, for an event of this size, having a policy is a very prudent move.

Here is some additional clarification on the policy

The policy itself provides liability coverage and provides a layer of liability protection between the organizers and coordinators of the event (those making the event happen), those registered to attend, and third parties. It does not provide supplemental insurance coverage to you, those in your car, etc. in the event you are in an accident, stump your toe walking to a dinner, etc. The biggest issue it protects against are the cases where a third party involved in an accident with a registered attendee makes a liability claim against the event itself, its organizers, etc. in an attempt to increase a financial payout.

Hope this helps to clarify what the event insurance really means.

Is there an actual list anywhere that shows who is currently registered for the entire event? It's kind of cool to check and see who's coming...

I can only find a Midnight OTD attendees list..

I had a list showing all those that had purchased registrations but I've been tracking down a bug that caused the list to be incorrect. Once I have the bug nailed down the list will come back up and you will be able to see it on the Registration page on the right-hand side.

Thanks!

Do we need to let someone know if we registered more than one person under our user name? I should be on the list 4 times, but its not a bug... I did in fact mean to get 4 registrations!

No need for that now. At sign-in at the event we'll put the person's name on the event registration card that you'll need in your car(s).

Relative to this if you are registering for someone other than yourself and they aren't a member of NAM just use your username. That will help me get a more accurate number of who is attending.

Thanks!

That list is up, you'll now find it when you go to the MOTD page and click on registration. It'll be along the right side of the page.

Thanks Mark!

I have taken a look at the registration site and I was wondering if the cost is per car or per person?

Cheers,
Jack

It's per driver. If you have 4 people in your car but only one of them will do all the driving then you only need one package. Unless of course you're like my family and don't share very well, which means we still need to get everybody a full registration package.

Including a full reg packy for the boy, I'm guessing!?! You'd better, for when he gets older!

Last year there was not a Farewell Dinner but this year's should be great with a lot of people there. I know that Atlanta MINIs are working to get the final arrangements ironed out and I'll update the site and email those on the Dragon mailing list when the information has been posted.

Stay tuned for this and other updates for the event!

Mark two questions re the Chili Cookoff

1. I registered as a contestant(best dam chili), do I need to also register for the event?

2. Over on Michigan Mini there is confusion, so I assume others may also be confused,,, Their comments on reading the event info is that they thought ONLY contestants needed to register , I posted there and told them that everyone who wishes to attend the event was to register @$5 or they wouldn't eat, and also encouraged them to bring a pot luck dish to share.
Did I just answer my own #1 question?

Thanks You all are doing a great job, and
I sense there is a growing swell of enthusiasm as the time is drawing near!

Oh yeah ,and Chili Rules?,,,,,we don't need no stinkin rules!

My understanding is that you do not need to purchase sampler tickets if you are a contestant.

You are correct. To eat you need to purchase a $5 sampler through the NAM store (this gets you 10 samples) . If you bring a pot luck dish (encouraged) you will also receive 10 additional samples. All this information is spelled out on the page that describes the Chili Cook Off (found in the Event Planner )

jon,
As is mentioned on the registration page if there is a chance your wife will drive during the weekend we recommend her getting at least a basic registration. If she's not a member of NAM just enter your NAM username when ordering for her through the store.

As for confirmation the email you received when you placed your order through the NAM store is your confirmation. When you arrive at Fontana we'll have a registration desk (location is being determined) where we'll provide you a printed copy of your invoice along with the registration package and materials.

Thanks!

Mark

How about refunds? I have not registered yet, but planning on attending. But, there is a possibility that I will have to cancel my plans to attend MOTD for a business trip.

If there is a chance that you might not be able to come I would recommend holding off on purchasing a registration until the second week of April when you have a better idea if you can make it. Unfortunately if you order a registration package we produce shirts and the other items based on your order. Given this we can't offer a refund but can ship it to you for a few extra dollars if you don't end up making it. The same holds true for the dinners as the caterer bases his portions on the orders that have come through.

In short, if you think there is a good chance you won't make it, don't place an order . If closer to the event it looks better for you then place your order. If you then still can't make it we'll ship to you.
