Thanks for organizing and running the event! Ms. Mouse and I had ball. The memory of all those MINIs with their eyes uplifted waiting for the Mothership to come is a keeper. So's standing there in the dark with just the multicolored spermies showing and having the two carloads of local kids suddenly decide that this was not the parking lot they wanted to be near and heading back down the road to launch their fireworks.

What a great time! Anybody have an idea of the actual number of cars on that run?

We were waiting from 11:30 to 12:50 for the Midnight run to drive by near the Overlook, but no one came! Did you guys stop at the Miata crash or something? We arrived at the crash right after it happened.

2 distinct groups (does not include the singles that went up for picture opportunities) went through, both before 11:30pm. One small group of around 10-15 with koolmini in the lead, and another group of around 30 or so a few minutes later. Everyone else (about 15 MINIs) arrived later and hung out at the Crossroads.

The second group got a warning over the radio about the Miata accident, but continued on. The first group got a verbal warning about it was Waylan and Amanda were heading back from the accident site.

Special thanks to those that were able to assist with the Miata crash scene. Your medical training, flares, triangles, and flashing warning lights kept the road open and safe!

We'll see you all next year!

According to my Event guide, Midnight on the Dragon lineup was scheduled for 11:30. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay at Fontana, and I know there are others out there such as myself, that had to drive aways to get to Fontana each day for scheduled activities. On my way to the 11:30 lineup I noticed several MINI's already beginning the Midnight Run. I am a little disappointed that I missed out on the official run and photo opportunity. I ended up assisting with the Miata crash (if anyone has any pics of this, please post or send to me-Thanks!!), so it evened out on excitement factor.
I just think if we are going to post certain times for events to begin, that we need to try to stick to them for those that might be coming from another area. Just a suggestion for future MOTD's. Thanks!!

We AtlantaMINIS went up early to "show off" our neons and get video of the parade (that didn't happen although a few made it through the accident). We had a blast anyway. Next year we will be equipped with hot chocolate and blankets as we were stuck at the overlook for around 1 1/2 hours!

Flashlights came in very handy when you had to potty in the woods! Ain't no tellin what kind of critters were out there!

Ditto!

Back to the Midnight Run and its intentions. It would have been impossible for all the MINIs to gather at the Crossroads, since so many showed up, and the station can only hold so many MINIs! They had to take off earlier in smaller groups. If not for the confusion caused by the Miata accident scene, many more probably would have run the Dragon. Next year, we will organize the run in stages, so we will all meet by Tabcat Bridge for the cool bonnets-up photos!

That would be cool. Also, we need to have a better shadow puppeteer. Get three, and they could do scenes from "The Italian Job"

Yeah, I started the hand shadow puppets with my flashlight... but I suck at it, so once others caught on, I stopped...

Chances are that if someone else decides to do it after the idea was sprung, they are better at it than me!
