Saw a band of 4 MINIs driving on the i95 South, getting off at Rye (Playland Parkway) Saturday afternoon. I believe it was a Chocolate, 2 Chilis, and one Pepper Clubbie... all were looking really good. I was driving my little brother to Stony Brook and broke my neck looking.

 

Damn! Thats like 10 minutes from me..AND i was thinking of going to the Tiki bar at playland last night. Anyone on here know the group?

FYI a friend and I started Tri-State MINIs Check us out on faceboook...we try to get cruising going as much as possible!!!!

 

Nice! I'm from the area. I've lived in Norwalk and Rye Brook. Went to HS in Stamford. I'm gonna check you guys out on Facebook (don't use it much though). Let me know when you guys are down for a meet. A meet at Tiki would be nice

Its me and one other person coming from CT, and if you guys are before the tapanzee Bridge we should meet somewhere before hand and all cruise up to meet with the others together

Is there anything going on in the NYC area? Any meetups? If not, can we all put something together....shouldn't let this cold weather go to waste. Plus, I'm personally going to want to drive until my wheels fall off....especially after I get my Helix I/C and boost tube installed

 

I was hoping to join a run one of this days, It would be my first run since I got my MINi since November. I'm looking forward to compare notes.

 

I'm in for anything. Set it up!

 

Sweet!!! Who else is in? Lets try to get something together in mid-to-late March...maybe even very early April. This would give those interested time to get certain things in order...you know, the installation of a group buy Helix I/C, some lowering springs and adj control arms, boost tube, wash/wax/detail, etc. (This is obviously MY to-do list)

I'm thinking a nice West Side Highway warm up and then a scenic drive over to Jersey, followed by a super-sprint down the Turnpike. Hungry?....stop by Harold's (maybe) and grab some good food (huge portions for a decent price). Want a nature photo op with your "baby"? Perhaps Rutgers Gardens can offer a nice backdrop.

Clearly, I have this all mapped out in my head!

Ultimately, I just want a bunch of NYC (Tri-state) locals to get together, meet, talk, laugh, share, and drive. This is my first MINI and would be my first run, so I'm excited. Open to any and all suggestions, as long as we have a good time!

Yes I am up for any Mini shows, festivals, anything of that nature......in fact anything to get my Cooper Cabriolet out of the parking garage and take it for a spin.

I've gotten together with madmike007 and several others formerly of the NYC Motoring Club to hold midnight runs throughout the city. Inbox me your info if you're interested in meeting up. I'm itching to get some people together even in the cold.

I'm up for a midnight run, set it up, I'm in the Bronx so West side highway Palisades, weschester sounds fun

 

I'm on the West Side, so I'm down for a midnight run. I'll probably be accused of having an affair, but I'll take the risk

 

I'm on the same boat, it will be hard to explain it to the other half
We could do this Friday or Saturday night let's get it rolling
it will be my first run and I have no clue how to organize it.

 

So here's how it goes or how it has gone in the past 2 years before we disbanded:

When: Friday March 1st
Time: 11:30pm
Where: Astoria Park, Queens (over the Tri- Boro Bridge, there IS a toll)

We'll meet up at the park, then make our way to the 59th street bridge via the industrial empty areas around Astoria. From there, we'll cross into Manhattan and into the FDR south. Cut into the tunnel so you can hear your exhaust bounce and bubble at high RPMs (3rd gear). Make our way up the west side up to dyckman and back south.

To be honest, I don't completely remember the entire run as I'm not the one who decides on the best route. Our former NYC Motoring head will be present at the meet up point and give us all a heads up.

If anyone has walkie talkies, those will be helpful in communicating with one another.

PM me for more info. This could be real fun, as it's been way too long since I've gotten together with other mini owners.
