Are B46C Oil Filter Housings Still Prone to Failure (2020)

I'm approaching 70k miles on original oil filter housing. Was starting to look for replacement aluminum housing and in the process, found that my 2020 uses oil filter housing (OFH) PN 11428649177 (Gen2). This OFH looks different than majority of failures I've stumbled across using PN 11428596283 (Gen1). Image shown below.

Does anyone know whether the newer PNs are still breaking? Majority of YouTube tutorials pull out the older Gen1 OFH. Trying to get a gauge of whether I replace this now, wait til 100k or don't replace unless a leak is seen.

Searching on RealOEM.com looks like the -6283 housing is used on rear wheel drive BMW models, and the -9177 housing is utilized on front wheel drive models, like the Mini lineup. Regardless, they all can have issues because they are made from the same plastic materials. I’m making plans to swap my Countryman filter housing this spring.

If you are doing the work, make sure you replace the block water outlet pipe, too

I have already purchased a metal replacement oil filter housing and water outlet from ECS a few months ago............... just waiting to see if the need arises. To be used on my 2023 F60 Countryman S All4 or my 2026 F66 JCW.
Can't believe after all these years and failures that MINI BMW would continue to use plastic in such critical areas.

Yep,

Not too many yet but we have some in the aftermarket already. I have seen a couple but not as many as the older housing. It might be good insurance and not to be stranded. My guess is as these car age and get miles they will too get issues on that part.

+1 on the part right next to it in metal.
