Suspension replacement or upgrade

My 2017 Countryman S AWD has about 105k miles on it and I'm starting to hear clunking with suspension. Figure it's time to replace or upgrade.

Since it has all the dampening BS on it and the OEM replacement shocks with the dampening is expensive, what are my alternatives? I put some Bilstein B4 shocks on my 1998 BMS Z3 and like those but it's a completely different era and ride. I can get one of those kits that block the error messages when it cannot detect the dampening signals but wonder what other pitfalls I will run into if I get away from the OEM suspension pieces.

What have others done to upgrade their suspension on their F60s?

Are you hearing clunking all the time, or only under certain transitions? You could keep the shocks, and start by replacing mounts and bushings and sway bar links. Maybe consider front control arms, too. If your plans include keeping the car long term, a full suspension refresh will keep it rolling sharp.

I second the opinion about inspecting and replacing the strut mounts. Just had that done on the RR corner of my CM with 300000 km. :-)
