Question What Happened to the MINI Connected App?

I just discovered that the MINI Connected iPhone app doesn't work. It immediately fails. Also, the app is no longer in the Apple iPhone App Store. It was working, and was a convenient way to configure navigation - but now apparently gone. I found another app on the store but it asks for the VIN and when I enter it (correctly - I double checked) it is rejected. Anyone know what is going on?

I have the android version. They rolled out a new app a couple of months ago. I have both the old and new apps loaded. The old app has "Connected" as the title, the new app says "MINI". I just checked the older app and while it displays data, it's old information and doesn't look to be working any longer.

The new app is functional for me.

BMW, in their infinite wisdom, decided that owners of pre-2019 Models (without telematics) really didn't the MINI Connected App any longer. BMW's arrogance towards the owners of its vehicles is becoming legendary.

Second time they've done this, too. They replaced an earlier version of the MINI Connected app with the newer one. It is less functional than its predecessor. And now the newer one has dropped support for the earlier F-series cars. Weak sauce.

Love my MINI, not so loving of BMW's software product managers. The car isn't a smartphone you replace every 2-3 years and we expect that the functions it has when we bought it will continue to work. Imagine the blowback if after three or four years BMW disabled the power steering because maintaining the ECU software wasn't convenient to them anymore? Extreme example, but you get the idea.

WTF. I recently bought an iPhone with the hope of using the app for my 2018 Countryman.

About 7 months ago, I called Mini/BMW about their lame software for Android and got the run around.

Can someone post the number for Mini/BMW software suck line so we can all complain?

Anyone in for a class action?
