Rear brake pad replacement

Has anyone replaced their rear brake pads on their F60? Curious as to whether there are any special procedures. I've done plenty of brake jobs and am familiar with having to twist the rear piston in on certain setups however this is my first with an electronic rear brake. I did a web search and found two difference procedures. One states that the rear piston needs to be twisted in and the other refers to removing the electronic brake motor, backing out the bolt, and then pushing the piston straight back.

Thanks,

Tim

Funny, I was just thinking about this and your post was at the top. I don't have an answer but wondering the same thing for when I have to do mine. I have a VW that I used a programmer to tell the electronic parking brake motors to release. I wasn't sure if it was the same type of procedure with the Mini.

The newTIS instructions only mention removing the electrical connector and pressing the piston back into the housing. I don't think the electronic calipers need to be wound in, but I could be wrong. At the end of the procedure, the instructions say to pump the brake pedal to seat the pads, then engage the electric brake a couple times.

Here is the link, if you have access:

NewTIS doesn't work anymore, sadly. BMW forced it offline.

My comment was “if you have access”. The rest of my post was to confirm there was no funky procedure, compared to changing the pads on a non-electric brake caliper.
