F60 Exhaust options
Exhaust options
So I have to trying to figure out which exhaust to get. I have a 2018 JCW with a Dinan Elite and I can't find a tuner that can shed some light on the subject for me.
JCW kit from the dealer

remus
Will I need a tune? Are there any HP improvements?

Depending on the exhaust you may or may not have any HP gains.
If it's just the rear exhausts and tips (axle back exhaust) you will not see any gains.
If you do a full cat back exhaust you may see +5-10hp at most.
If you do downpipe(s) and turbo inlet you may see a few more extra ponies.
If you really want to see gains you'd need to do a full intake system, turbo inlet and upgraded downpipe with catback exhaust PLUS revised tuning to take advantage of the increased airflow (into the engine and exiting the engine)... which is essentially a "Stage 2" set up. I'm yet to have found any off the shelf ECU tunes for the CM (like APR for example) where you can go from a stage 1 to a stage 2... there may be an option for a custom tuner to do this for you but it would probably involve needing to get the car on a dyno etc.
So with all that being said. If you add an exhaust just base the choice on sound and choose it that way. Don't expect any noticeable HP gains.
What options are there for exhausts anyways apart from the JCW exhaust which seems very expensive?

Agree, not much out there and what is available is crazy expensive. I was looking at mine this weekend and will probably have a shop cut the muffler off and weld up a straight through design to new tips.

I've been actually looking for a tuner while I'm in Arizona, but can't find any beat Sierra Vista or Tucson. If I get it done it here, I won't have to listen to my wife complaining about spending money while her Amazon packages keep rolling in! I know she's doing the same thing too! Lol
