225/55R18 vs 235/50R18

For the Countryman S ALL4, our OEM 18 Wheel size is 7.5X18 ET51 and our OEM tire size is 225/50R18.
I want to get Falken Wildpeak A/T tires on it but they don't make it in OEM size. The closest options while sticking with 18" wheels are 225/55R18 and 235/50R18.

Does anyone know if the 225/55R18 will fit without rubbing? I saw someone post that the 235/50R18 fit without issue. Which would you guys go with? Would either of these benefit from wheel spacers with the primary goal of not rubbing?

My driving is 45% city, 45% hwy and I want to start taking the Countryman off onto forest service roads and some light offroading to get to some good dispersed camping spots. Looking at the financials, I want to go tires first then look into a lift kit.

Ack, I apologize. I just noticed there's a dedicated tire/wheel forum. I'll check that out and chime back in if I didn't find anything there.
