I have the JCW tuning kit exhaust and it is really loud with the flap open. It isn't so much the engine itself, but the fact that it sounds like a machine gun when you let off the gas.

The JCW Pro exhaust for the JCW models is the same exhaust used with the Cooper S's tuning kit. It's wake your neighbors loud if you have the flap open. It rivals my X3 M40i in sound.

I wonder if there are any noticeable gains if you do the Dinan Elite tune first, then do the JCW Exhaust and tune next. If anyone has experience with this please share your thoughts.

I have a JCW, so when I added the JCW exhaust, I didn't see any perceptible performance gains, as there's no extra tune for a factory JCW, just a louder exhaust. Regarding the Dinan Elite, which I did next, I really noticed a stark improvement in acceleration/power. It's awesome. Unfortunately, the only way to truly know if there is any improvement would be to dyno stock, do the tune, dyno again, then get the Dinan, then dyno again...

Thanks for the input @f60jcw . My only concern would be if adding the Jcw exhaust and tune would somehow corrupt my Dinan elite tune. I’m actually considering waiting for an aftermarket full exhaust system is developed.

You'd need to check with Dinan because if we're talking about the S, the JCW tune has higher parameters in the mappings so Dinan can take advantage of that in their piggyback. They used to have different part numbers for the base vehicles and ones with the PPK or M Performance tune on the BMW side to account for what base tune the vehicle has but it looks like their current versions may take all of that into account with single part.

I have been told that Dinan Elite actually builds off of the JCW tune. I haven’t been able to confirm it, but it makes the JCW tune a bit more attractive.

The JCW tune has been very nice since my car has been back. It isn’t Earth shattering in any way, but the difference really is there as I have started putting miles on it. The exhaust has been an absolute dream and has really altered the character of the car in a really fun way. Having my factory warranty has been really nice too.

Long shot, but does anyone know if just the exhaust from the JCW tuning kit is available separately? I don’t want all the extra baggage that comes with installing the the control box and the Bluetooth remote… I have a factory JCW and would just plumb the two valves into the sport button like the factory valve.

The exhaust included in the kit is the same one as the JCW Pro exhaust for the factory JCW models. When the kit went on sale it was cheaper to get the full kit than just the exhaust though. They all have the control module and bluetooth remote included.
