Control Display / System Restart

Happy Holidays!

Just experienced something odd... As I was driving the radio just cut out, Control Display went off, showed the MINI logo and appeared to have restarted.

Has anyone seen this before? Known issue?

Thanks for the input.

Haven't seen this on ours. I'd make a note of it with your dealership and maybe even have them see if a fault code was stored. Not that you don't have a ton of warranty left but I'd hate to think of the cost of replacement should it be a problem.

Haven't heard of it happening with the new 5.0 connected touch but I do know a few fellow MINI owners with the older connected where ios 11 caused a reboot of the system. The latest ios update that came out a few weeks back fixed it last I heard. I switched from a 7+ to an X and none of the app's would work until the last MINI connect & Ios update which both came out within a week thankfully.

I had this happen yesterday about three times in a row on my commute home. I was streaming Audible over Bluetooth. Not sure what it was, but the problem went away. My guess is weather-related. It was -13F and then got up to 8F. It's probably my phone.

I had this happen to me just before Christmas. I was turning right and listening to SiriusXM when all of a sudden the screen when blank, the JCW logo appeared and the system finished rebooting. Within a minute or so everything was back to where it was.

My first thought was it had something to do with my use of bimmercoder for the first time a few days prior to this. That process caused the system to reboot just like the issue above, so I was aware of what that looks like.

It is also very cold here and it was in the lower 10's at the time.

So far the issue has not reoccurred.
