MINI was running fine, then, the engine wouldn't restart!

Well, I was having a fine motorin' day and then after being out of the car for about 30 minutes I tried to restart it and it would crank and crank, but, wouldn't fire. I saw a similar thread about possibly tripping the fuel cut-off switch but I had not been doing any hard motorin' at all. My MCS has 4800 miles on it and I've had it for about 4 months.

The aggravating thing is that I had to have it towed 120 miles to the nearest dealer (MINI of St. Louis) and will have to make that trip to pick my baby up (soon I hope!). Oh well, I guess I knew I was in for some of that when I decided on a MINI. Being one of only three that I know of that own a MINI in southeast Missouri (so far) is worth it.

Anyway, is there anyone out there who has had a similar experience or think they know what is going on with my car? Let me know!

Yep, I had the same problem three times. Mine restarted after sitting for a couple of hours. But, the second time it happened the car went into limp mode; it wouldn't go over 10MPH and I did not have time to wait for it to clear up so had it flatbedded to the dealer (BTW - use MINI roadside assistance, they will tow it at their cost; they should also provide you with a rental at their cost).

The dealer replace the wiring harness and the throttle motor. I paid $80 in taxi fare to pickup my MINI and drove it to work. I stayed at work for about 20 minutes, got in the car to go home, it wouldn't start!!! Called roadside assistance and had it flatbedded yet again!

This time they reprogrammed the ECU and so far (2 days) it is running okay... fingers crossed
