The Details!!! Ok, some of them...

On Saturday July 26 2008, Seven Cities MINI and HRMINI along with support from neighboring clubs in North Carolina, DC and Pennsylvania will be hosting another attempt at the Guinness World Book Record of “most” MINIs / Minis in a parade.

Our official Guinness claim number is 208356. This year, to raise the bar so our fellow MINI enthusiasts from across the pond can't take it from us, we are going for 500 cars!!!! Last June C7M, HRMINI, DC METRO MINI and members for other surrounding clubs set the record at 273, which is an Official Guinness World Record!

England attempted to take the record back last August but missed by a mere 3 cars! It is time to show some American pride and break our own world record and keep it in the USA!

This year we will be hosting a whole day event starting a 9 A.M. and going up to Midnight! The event will be held in Lanexa VA at the Rockahock Campgrounds. The Parade will start at 2 P.M. but the entire the day will be filled with:

- Vendors

- Car shows

- Clinics

- Competitions

- Rock and roll bands

- Food

- and Children Events.

You can camp at Rockahock or reserve a cabin or Yurt! RV accommodations are available as well. More information will be coming soon. We will have a link on our web site for pre-registration soon. Hope to see you in July!

Please keep in mind that this is still a work in progress but here are some of the particulars.

There will definitely be...

Food vendors serving picnic or carnival type food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and that sort of thing.

Bands! There will be several different bands playing Country, Rock and Roll and Top 40.

Genuine Italian food at the Fox Hunter Grill. I've been to this restaurant and they have outstanding Italian food and it's right there on the grounds of the Rockahock Campgrounds!

Beer! There will be a beer truck available for those who wish to enjoy a cold one on a hot July Virginia day! Please drink responsibly!

If you aren't certain that you would like to attend, please keep in mind that the Williamsburg Pottery Factory, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, Busch Gardens and several Outlet Malls are within easy driving distance of Rockahock. Why not make a weekend of it?

FYI: The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation to benefit the families of fallen Navy SEALs.

This sounds like a great cause, and the whole programme looks like fun.

It appears however that posting to each Club thread has ruffled some feathers...

Pity - no need to oversell it.

I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. But you need to pimp your Prizes!

I apologize for ruffling feathers. That wasn't my intention. This is the first event I've ever participated in promoting or anything else and evidently I went overboard in my enthusiasm. It won't happen again.

I spent about 6 hours a few nights ago googling Mini club names listed here and registering and posting about the event on their respective forums. I also found that many clubs have their official club boards hosted here on NAM so I thought I would post to them to get the word out.

Louispup,

We are working on prizes and raffles but nothing is set in stone yet so I don't want to mention anything for fear of causing problems. When we get solid commitments, I will post about them here.

Sounds like a great time, being about 5 hours away. However, will be at MTTS. Maybe next year.?!

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it THAMINI. Maybe it would work as a detour on your way to Chicago?
