Context: I have a 2011 Countryman All4 S.

I was just replacing my air filter today, after I put back on the air filter cover I noticed something odd - a small nozzle that looks like it should have a hose attached, and a bracket that looks like it should be holding the missing hose attached to the side of the air filter cover... see the image where I've circled both, the large tubs is the one going into the air filter housing.

The car seems to run OK (except for a failing turbo waste gate) but recently has sometimes had some hesitation after starting up, that seems to quickly go away for the day. The check engine light is on (that is new) and if I can ever get my Carly adaptor working again I'll check the codes but I don't know what they are just yet.

I know there was no tube before I replaced the air filter as I'd noticed the empty bracket on the side of the air cover before I removed anything, but I did just recently have my car serviced.

Any idea if I'm missing something vital here? Thanks!


Nozzle seemingly missing attached hose.

 

Take a look at the end of that fitting. Some Countryman engines had that blocked off. Yours could be one of those engines.

Thanks, looking at that more closely it seems you are right, it looks like the end is blocked off! So I guess that's not the source of my issue.

My Carly device no longer works sadly so will have to get the codes by some other means.
