I'll bet this is going to be really simple, but I am not figuring it out . I disconnected the air filter hose to check on the filter, went to put it all back together....and I am just not seeing how the the clamp goes back together easily. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

There is a special tool that allows you to snap it in place very easily but I have had sucess with just a regular pair of pliers. The clamp slides between two keepers that keeps it straight. There is a hump that you need to pull one end over, once over the hump, the 'C' shaped end will snap over the hump. Kinda hard to explain but I could show you in a couple of seconds. If all else fails go to a auto parts store and get a regular screw type hose clamp.

A pair of small chan-nel-locks work excellent too. Put one jaw on the little nub, and the other jaw on the hook part of the clamp.

Thanks for the replies. Based on the ideas, it sounded like I simply needed to retry, but with a variety of different tools. Sure enough, a new set of vise-grips with some good sharp teeth were able to grip the clamp well enough to pull it together.

Thanks!

Yes, a bit of skill and the right common tool can do the trick so you can re-use the clamp. Garages also have special tools to make it easy. Some people throw away the stock clamp but it looks pretty good to me compared to the normal universal hose clamps.

If you are still wrestling with it, give Eric at Helix13 a call.
I have a re-bored throttlebody on my MCS and used the stock clamp to put the hose back on-
It looks stock until you realize the TB is upgraded. Good for trips to the dealer.

I am able to inspect my air filter without loosening the hose clamp. After removing the two torx screws which hold down the box cover, there is enough "give" for you to carefully raise and push back the hose and cover to remove the air filter.
