I love the utility of my Countryman, but it's annoying that the T-slots in the OEM roof rails are too big for the typical T-slot accessories from the big-name roof rack companies.
My favorite accessory is the set of Thule load-stops for carrying 2x4s and the like. They make it really easy to secure with a couple rubber tie down straps.
It's not too hard to fashion some spacers out of aluminum c-channel. I used some 6063 Aluminum U-Channel 1/16" Wall Thickness, 5/16" High x 1" Wide Outside from McMaster (I couldn't find anything locally)
P.S. My google-foo isn't necessarily top notch, but as far as I can tell, Thule makes the racks for MINI / BMW / (and Renault), but use a bigger T-slot than their normal racks.
There are 30x24 mm adapter bolts available from Thule, but they are dumb expensive. And they wouldn't help with a "nut" like I have in my example pictures above.
